Timothy: We’re going to begin to talk about the very first word Jesus spoke when he started preaching.

Intro: Welcome to the Consider Podcast where we turn our minds to consider wisdom, madness and folly. Join the host Timothy and Jacob on a quest to have God enlighten the mind according to verse 25 of Ecclesiastes chapter 7. So, I turned my mind to understand. To investigate and to search out wisdom and the scheme of things and to understand the stupidity of wickedness and the madness of folly. Ecclesiastes 7:25. The Consider Podcast examining today’s events and Paulorrow’s realities at www.consider.info.

Timothy: In first John chapter 2 verse 6, this is our central scripture on everything that we look at here whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus walked. We’re going to examine and begin to look now how Jesus walked when it came to preaching and his life. Let’s look at how Jesus came why he came and what he began to do. How’s it going Jacob?

Jacob: It’s going good.

Timothy: Nice, snowy day a day.

Jacob: Yes, it is.

Timothy: Can’t even get out. So, let’s do a little bit of recording. Let’s go to Matthew chapter 4 verse 17. And we’re going to read the first word that Jesus ever spoke and is recorded that he spoke when he began to preach. Jacob when you get there, go ahead and read Matthew chapter 4 verse 17.

Jacob: “From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

Timothy: Repentance. That was the sole message of Jesus Christ. In fact, it says in Mark chapter 6 verse 12 when he trained the disciples who are following him. It says, “They went out and preached that people should repent.” You don’t really hear that message rang out. Not with certainly any clarity today but okay again, Jacob, I’m going to ask you because you’re more involved kind of out there and aware what’s going on. Is there much talk About repentance or is it kind of a secondary thing or third or fourth or whatever?

Jacob: Well, the only time that you have to repent is if you aren’t saved. So, you’re going to repent. It’s like repentance is like a onetime deal. You only got to do it once really and then from then on out, right?

Timothy: Well yes. It just gets a salvation at that point.

Jacob: Yeah, it’s picky and choosy, right? Like you should because everybody knows that oh well yeah, you’re not perfect so you’re still going to sin. But the message of repentance outside of the salvation call is not heavily preached.

Timothy: Everyone who claims to be a disciple of Jesus, a lot of people claim to be Christians but those that are actual disciples of Jesus, their whole life, whatever they’re doing, however they’re living, whoever they’re speaking to, whatever actions they do, it has one central ring and the word is repentance, repentance and faith, repentance. I know that as a I’ve walked wherever God has led me to walk. One goal I’ve had and I’m kind of phrasing that in who I am. I’m phrasing this in human terms. It’s not really a goal. It’s just who Jesus is. If you’re walking as Jesus walked, these things are going to happen naturally. And that is to make anybody and everybody that I bump into or that comes against me or for me or whatever accountable. Accountable to repent. Nobody’s going to leave without knowing that they need to repent.

Now, that doesn’t mean I’ve always actually used the word repent, but my life speaks that, the actions speak that, the fragrance of Jesus Christ speaks that. And I also speak it very clearly. It’s all about repentance. This life is just too short to get wrapped up in our careers to get into the foolishness of trying to save America. We’ll talk about that here in a moment. It’s absurd. Jesus Christ was born and came for one reason, one reason only to people to repentance and faith. And God wants the church or those who claim really to claim to walk with Jesus to get past the ignorance of what he’s about. In Acts chapter 17 verse 30. It says, “In the past God overlooks such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to”, guess what? Repent. We’re to be people repenting of our ignorance. We’re to repent of everything. And we’re to call other people to repentance. And our lives should spell repentance to whoever we meet.
Jacob, go ahead and play the little piece about “Even the Demons Believe. You can get that for free. You can listen to it eventually. We’ll have that online or you can obviously order which is really what I recommend not for the money but you need to sit down and meditate before the Lord to begin to repent of our ignorance about what God has called us to do and the full gospel message. That’s just a good place to start, “Even the Demons Believe.

Testimonial video: JF who lives in Brazil set up the book “Even the Demons Believe”. I would like to tell you that I’m doing chapter 7 right now. It’s the second time I’ve read the book, “Even the Demons Believe” and I think it’s an impacting book. Literally impacting. Let us say the first time you read it, you get shocked, outraged, and maybe sort of mad at the author. However, a second reading makes you go deep into your own spiritual life and church experiences. I presume it has gotten people exactly where Pastor Williams wanted them to be. Cornered and faced by their own attitude towards the almighty.

If you are interested in the full and complete gospel message before becoming a disciple of Jesus. Then the book, “Even the Demons Believe” might prove helpful. As the angel told the apostle Peter in Acts 5:20. “Go stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people the full message of this new life.’ The book “Even the Demons Believe will also guide those claiming the name Christian to test themselves. As the apostle Paul wrote in second Corinthians 13:5. Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you? Unless of course you fail the test? The Consider Podcast, today’s events, Paulorrow’s realities. www.consider.info.

Timothy: Jacob, why don’t you go ahead and go to first Corinthians chapter 2 verse 2 and read that passage.

Jacob: “For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”

Timothy: We talk about repentance. It’s going to require resolve to stick with repentance. To just know Jesus Christ and him crucified. What goes on out there in the Christian world is we have our purposes. We have our favorite cause and then we tack on Jesus to that. That all needs to go. There needs to be one central message and one message only for I resolve to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. Jacob when I mentioned like pro-life, does the word repentance come to mind?

Jacob: Prolife.

Timothy: A Christian who’s pro-life or helping with that organization, does the word repentance scream?

Jacob: No, it’s a pro-life is just a cause you’re going to you know, you want to save babies.

Timothy: Correct. Noble cause, but it’s not walking as Jesus walked. There should be within a pro-life movement such a fragrance of Jesus Christ and such a clarity of the full gospel message that what spells and what comes out is the word repentance. But the problem is if you preach the full message and you preach only that message and the offense of the cross, you’re not going to have a pro-life movement because most people aren’t going to join. So, we use Jesus to draw people in and then the cause becomes an idol. If I say to you Jacob, America needs to be saved. We’re on the threshold of America going down and we need to revive that and bring that back up. Does repentance come to be the bells that are ringing and the noise that is made? Does it overshadow every discussion about quote unquote saving America?

Jacob: No.

Timothy: No, not at all. Again, repentance if it’s mentioned is usually tacked on. It’s kind of the last thing down. A disciple of Jesus, someone walking as Jesus walked, being moved by the Holy Spirit will be have message only and that is repentance and faith. Repentance and faith. Not repentance in America, not repentance and prolife, just repent. We do realize, right? That if people just repented, pro-life would be a natural byproduct of that or if people repented, America quote unquote, well, it’s not time for it to be saved but just for the sake of argument, would it not be saved?

Jacob: And I guess you could still and I don’t mean to like water down what you’re saying by any means. But even if someone in repentance if you narrowed in right and you were like I’m really gung-ho for repentance in the issue of prolife, but that’s not even preached right or talk or pushed. You know what I mean? As far as like even if somebody was obviously, they’re gung ho for repentance in that specific issue or they have a heart that says, well, I really want to help mothers who had done abortions. They need to repent and those are the people that I feel God has called me to or whatever. But you know what I mean? Even within that like that scope but the message is still not repentance in the lens of prolife, or you know what I mean?

Timothy: Yes, not only that the word repentance is so watered down it really doesn’t mean anything.

Jacob: Well yeah, I mean that’s isn’t that kind of the first issue is the churches, thedefinition for life or repentance. Yeah, so then you can’t even apply that to a specific issue because they’re not really repenting of anything, other than when they first said Jesus, I’m sorry please save me and now I’m safe.

Timothy: Let me give you just one example and of course it’s going to be offensive. Repentance is offensive, anything less than that of course is not the repentance of Jesus Christ. Let’s take the Pro-life Movement for a moment. Suppose all the women that belonged that had abortions repented. They would do what Paul did. Paul talked about how he was a murderer and that he went from town to town to try and torture people and to try to get them to blast. So, you’d have pictures of these women going, I was a murderer, I murdered two times or I murdered three times. There’s not a stepping up to the front you can call it abstractly murder and you can try and get pro-life legislation and all those things that has nothing to do with repentance.

Repentance stands up and goes this is who I was and this is who I am most people just come to Jesus Christ they say they repented and they never talk about any of the sins or the way God deliver them if you truly have repented of being a of babies then stand up and say, I murdered children. That’s how other people are going to hear the message of the pro-life message. That’s a true pro-life message, because you’re not changing anything unless people actually repent. Indeed, you think people would wake up. Is this the whole pro-life movement doing better or worse?

Jacob: Worse.

Timothy: I mean, I just read this morning a matter of fact that in California, I shouldn’t be surprised but they have put in their constitution that a woman can get an abortion all way up until the 9th month. Appalling.

Jacob: Yeah.

Timothy: It’s appalling. So, well, let’s press on because we’ll get sidetracked.

Jacob: Yeah.

Timothy: When you think of Jesus in music, you don’t think of the word repentance. I could go on and on. There are many causes out there and they just tack Jesus in whether that’s going to war or whether that’s, especially sports, they do that a lot. So, it’s not Jesus in honest government. It’s not Jesus in investing wisely. It’s not Jesus in your revival. It’s not Jesus in Christian movies. It’s not Jesus in books of martyrs. It’s not Jesus God, family, and country. It is Jesus and his message. It is repentance and faith. That’s it. That should be so honed in that people get the idea that it’s not any of these other causes. In fact, those causes have become idols within the church alongside with Jesus Christ. Jacob, go and play Apple Pie.

Apple Pie Video: The host, Timothy, is not a United States of America Christian. Timothy is not a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or Independent Christian. If Timothy were, God would be ashamed of him. Timothy would be an embarrassment in heaven if he were a flag-waving, red white and blue, God, family, country, apple pie United States of America Christian. God flatly stated such and it’s recorded in the Bible. Hebrews 11 verse 13-16., “All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised. They only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, and they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they’re looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they have left. They would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country. A heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God. For he has prepared a city for them.” The Consider Podcast at www.consider.info. Examining today’s events and Paulorrow’s realities.

Timothy: Those that are trying to save America and tacking on Jesus on top of that according to Hebrews, they’re not going to be welcomed into heaven that God will be ashamed of them at the best-case scenario. In Exodus chapter 20 verse 23, this is just made perfectly clear. In fact, there’s a whole example here of this taking place where you have God and then you just tack an idol on next to it. In Exodus chapter 20 verse 23 God is very clear. He gives the instruction. “Do not any Gods to be alongside me.” None.” Do not make any Gods to be alongside me.” So, it’s not Jesus Christ in America. It’s not Jesus Christ in music and it’s not Jesus Christ in being a plumber. It’s not Jesus Christ in being a doctor. It’s Jesus Christ. “Do not make any Gods to be alongside me.”

Of course, we all agree with do not make for yourselves Gods of silver or Gods of gold. How many of these ministries and these promotions of causes are raking in all kinds of money and have all kinds of support and they know that if they preach the full gospel, let’s just go into fantasy land. Let’s just say they started passing out copies of “Even the Demons Belief” to everybody they came in contact with or any member that signed up or they said, tell you what, join our club here and we’ll send you free copy DB’s. How many people do you think would continue to give?

Jacob: Not many.

Timothy: Not many. You’re not going to be able to build a golden calf out of that.

Jacob: No, there’s not going to be enough coins for a golden calf.

Timothy: Correct? Well, let’s go from Exodus 20 verse 23 and let’s move on to where the people disobey. Let’s go to Exodus chapter 32 verse 4. The Israelites became kind of tired walking out and they grumbled. Usual story if you want to go read it. And so, it says, “He took what they handed him and he made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf.” I think do most people know the story of the golden calf Jacob or is it kind of disappeared out there?

Jacob: No, people know it.

Timothy: Okay. Alright. Well hound onto it too much. “An idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then he said, “These are your Gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.” Exodus chapter 32 verse 5, “When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced.” Look at this. Jacob, I’m going to let you read that.

Jacob: “Paulorrow there will be a festival to the Lord.”

Timothy: Alright, so he comes in and now he rebrands it, renames it and says, “It’ll be a festival to the Lord.” And that’s what’s going on and all these conservative causes where you’ve got your conservative cause. You’ve got human understanding who Jesus is. It’s not repentance. When did this shift get to that we think reporting the news about what the liberals are doing is preaching the gospel?

Jacob: Yeah, like a holy mission. So suddenly just because you can turn, I guess a point your finger. I know we’ve talked about like Stephen Crowder recently, right? And supposedly he’s a Christian all this. And so somehow, he’s like a God fairy man because he can turn and be like oh that’s bad. And then he’s a Christian?

Timothy: Well, I look at a lot of news conservative side, liberal side, whatever but even on the conservative side where they claim to be Christians or they they’ll tack on Jesus. Even Fox News has little blurps about Jesus Christ going on in there. And so, you’ve got, you go, wait a minute. And then of course you got bikini clad women also being advertised in there and nobody has a clue that you can’t mix the two.

Jacob: Yeah.

Timothy: Or again back to the original thing. How many news sites out there that are quote unquote Christian telling us all the things that are going on and they think that’s actually accomplishing something.

Jacob: Yeah.

Timothy: How about going out and calling your neighbor to repentance? Or opposing those wicked authorities out there with the gospel message instead of trying to get laws passed. The call is to repent. We’ve had a tremendous amount of pressure and in just us put upon us and the message back has always been what? Repent, repent, repent. Now, if God has wills to use some legal means to drive that home, I’ll go for it. But the only message that I’m proclaiming that I’m living, that I’m demanding of anybody especially who claims to be a Christian is repentance and faith. I need to see that going on.

When you mix the golden calf, when you bring in these other causes or you develop a club or a ministry that does a bunch of good deeds and I’m not against feeding the poor but when that’s the emphasis. You realize in scripture that Jesus did say, you always have the poor with you and Paul they wrote to him and said, “We want you to take care of the poor.” He goes, “I’m very eager to do.” I don’t mean this in a callous way but this is exactly what scripture said. Even feeding the poor is secondary to preaching the gospel. And you know me, I’m very generous and give to the poor and those kinds of things. But the over thing is not that. That’s not what I’m promoting. I’m not promoting a ministry that gives to the poor. I’m demanding that everybody repents as the Holy Spirit leads that.

Jacob: And if you don’t have that mindset first, everyone like you’ve mentioned like everybody goes, God, country, family, whatever. Like man, okay well, you’re like I don’t know 1/20, you’re one quarter, right? Because the God part is correct. If just ditch the rest of it and then yeah that that’s okay. But who cares if you’re not calling the homeless person to repentance who cares about giving them a handout or it doesn’t do any good to feed the people in Africa. None of it matters if it’s not repentance. Because all you’re going to do end up doing is making them twice as fit for hell, because you’re going to give them some water down version of the gospel. And then maybe they’re going to stand before God and they’re like well he told me that and then the person who, you know what? I mean is making the person twice as fit for hell They’re going to be doubly condemned.

Mid Point

Timothy: And never even been offered the gospel. Do we not realize that being poor is a temporary thing? Being rich is a temporary thing. This world is passing away. The only thing that’s going to last is eternal life. And you only get that by repenting and having faith in Jesus Christ and by walking the full gospel. That’s what we mean by repentance and that’s what we mean by following Jesus Christ. The problem would be is if you pull the golden calf away because Aaron could’ve done that. He could’ve smash said, this is wrong. We shouldn’t be doing this that while hey they probably would have stoned him and kick him out. They would not have invited him back to the revival meeting. But if you do that, then nobody wants to participate.

Look how few workers there are. There is so much to do. There is so much that could be done if I had ten workers. I mean when I say ten workers, I don’t mean people playing at it. People that are willing to lay down their life for Jesus Christ in that work. We’re not talking this volunteer bid. I’m talking about workers out in the field. Work until they don’t feel like working anymore.
Exodus 32 verse 5, when Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced the flyers went out, is promoted on TV. “Paulorrow, there will be a festival to the Lord.” So, he seeks to whitewashed the whole situation and everybody’s eager to participate. They all donate, don’t they?

Jacob: Yes.

Timothy: They gave a little gold, little this, a little that, and they threw it in the pot and they fashioned it and they got exactly how they wanted it and maybe an idol called Jesus, but it’s all fashioned up and shiny and pretty. People want to participate in that. So, they do their duty to the Lord. That’s why we read in verse 6. “So, the next day”, look at this. “So, the next day, the people rose early.” Oh, they got to church on time that day. That’s why you see all this vile entertainment called worship in the church today. Because people aren’t going to get up early to go hear a tough message that calls and demands them to repent or to come in and confess their sins. They want to be entertained, food, fun, fellowship, I don’t know why I stay away from that stuff.

“So, the next day, the people rose early.” The alarms went off early, no matter daylight savings or time or not. They got up and what’s it say, “And they sacrificed.” These are people that look like they’re giving everything to God. They sacrifice burnt offerings. They brought the animals. They brought the grain. They brought whatever they had and they sat. This is a full on. If you just read this passage, wouldn’t you think there’s a revival meeting going on?

Jacob: Yeah.

Timothy: If you sent camera crews and interviewed people. Oh yeah, I feel the presence of the Lord. I sense God and technically, their mindset is they’re coming in before the Lord, right? Because Aaron said, Paulorrow morning, hey guys, we’re going to have a festival of the Lord. So, that’s what they’re doing. “They sacrifice burnt offerings and presented.” They didn’t just sacrifice, they also presented. What did they present, Jacob?

Jacob: Fellowship offering.

Timothy: Fellowship. Oh, our church fellowships. We’re fellowshipping with the living God. All of this fellowship is going on and it comes with sacrifice. See, they’d say I’m lying. Of course, give me 45 minutes. I’ll clear that room. Says, “Then afterward”, of course, they go on about their daily life. They go on about their fun. “Afterward, they sat down to eat and drink.”

They’re just having a good time and then got up after they were satisfied and full. What did they do? They just indulge themselves in revelry. That’s what we see going to church. I visited church once long time ago. He’s preaching and you’re hungry for anything. So, he’s preaching the message of the cross to a certain degree and man this is great. This is really good. “And then he announced there won’t be church Paulorrow,” because the Super Bowl’s I mean next Sunday because the Super Bowl’s playing. It’s exactly what you got going on. So, the people just go home. “Eat and drink. Spend the day. Go to restaurants. Go shopping. I don’t know. What do people do after church Jacob?

Jacob: Whatever they want.

Timothy: Let’s play this next little clip.
Video Clip: Welcome to our friendly, loving, all are welcome church. Where entertainment has replaced soul searching worship. Where the ink of the Bible is preached while the soul dividing living Word of God is muted so that all may feel blessed. Where popular preaching has replaced the offensive message of the cross – fact is our preacher is the hippest in town. Come dressed comfortably and seductively because God sees the heart. Where being blessed means you get from God rather than surrendering to the will of God by giving up all. Where buckets of whitewash will paint over your sins. No need for suffering against sin at our church. As Jesus paid the price and you don’t have to do anything. Where fun is the name of the game, rather than sharing in God’s holiness. Where impurity is promoted while those who hunger to be pure are ignored and silenced; as everyone needs to feel comfortable and safe. Where true rest from sinning is replaced with do a little of this and do a little of that.

Remember to tithe and instead of picking up that Bible, we will use the Isaiah 28 vomit bag in our worship services. All the tables are covered with vomit and there is not a spot without filth. Who is it he strike to teach, to whom is he explaining his message. The children weaned from their milk, to those just taken from the breast. For it is do and do, do and do, rule and rule and rule, a little here a little there. Very well then with foreign lips and strange tongues, God will speak to this people; to whom he said: “This is the place; let the weary rest and this is the place of repose. But they would not listen.” So then, the word of the Lord to them will become. Do and do, do and do, rule and rule. Rule and rule; a little here, a little there- so that they will go and fall backward, be injured, snared and captured. Isaiah 28:8-13. The Considered Podcast. Examining today’s wisdom, madness and folly. www.consider.info.

Timothy: Jacob, why don’t you go to Mark chapter one verse 35 and read through 38.

Jacob: “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else–to the nearby villages–so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”

Timothy: We see here a classic example of Jesus giving up ministry opportunity to do the will of God. Knows what it is. Everybody’s looking for Jesus and knowing them they’re right a settle down, build a church, and start a movement, correct?

Jacob: Yeah.

Timothy: But Jesus Christ had been alone with God and that’s what’s crucial about everything that we’re looking at here. In order to preach a message of repentance, you have to get alone with God and you have to go where he tells you to and remember we’ve looked at you have to speak in a way that he would work it and will it. So, they want to establish a ministry but down a golden cap probably and sorry get started taking donations. But Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else–to the nearby villages–so that I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” How little even the discussion among Christian families and churches. The whole goal of Jesus Christ is to save the world, correct?

Jacob: Yes.

Timothy: To call everybody to repentance. I can’t remember a family for which I know that their Christian family, they have a faith in God but they act like they’re a part of the world, their careers are more important, their education, their home, their building, I don’t know, going off grid, There’s so many causes out there. I seldom leave a house that goes, that’s a house of repentance that calls other people to repentance and they’re all focused on one and one thing only. Everybody’s got their little idols and their little calves and their little ideas and concepts. How hard would unity be if everybody was just preaching repentance? That wouldn’t I know there’d be some difficulty because getting people to agree on what that message is, but it’s a lot easier when all this other stuff is stripped away.

You got to leave your own ministry opportunities behind in order to do the will of God. You got to leave your opportunities behind in life whether it’s a job, family, business, or whatever in order to go where Jesus calls you to go. It’s always interesting and I’m going to deviate just a little bit in terms of persecution. Jesus says, “When you’re persecuted, what you should do is just flee.” So, you’ve pretty much got to be ready anytime just to leave everything behind and go on. The reason why We don’t want to preach the message and it’s important for us to realize why we don’t want to because then we can confess it as sin. We can come before God and ask him to purify our hearts.
In Luke chapter 12 verse 49, Jesus says, “I’ve come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!” So, he’s burning with to bring this fire on the earth. The Christians that you know and people that you know that are in the church and so on. Is there a fire that you see burning within them to bring a fire on the earth to cause a division or rising and falling in many?

Jacob: No.

Timothy: You don’t see that at all. It’s they’re saved Christians and they go about their nice little comfortable Christian life. Now listen to what else he says. Luke chapter 12 verse 50, “But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it’s completed!” If we’re going to walk as Jesus walked, we have to undergo a baptism. You can’t just get saved and then go preach the gospel without there being a lot of discipline that happens along the way. So, Jesus is saying, I have to be prepared. I have to go through this fire. I have to go through this distress. I have a baptism to undergo. An immersion in the discipline of God. And he’s distressed until it’s completed. He wants to get that over with so that he can do what? What’s he wants to get it over with Jacob so that it will happen?

Jacob: So, he can preach the gospel.

Timothy: So that the fire on earth can come. So that there, and let’s look at what it says and you compare this with the attitude within Christian families especially. He says in verse 51, “Do not think I came to bring peace on earth?” Well, let’s back up and just sit down for a moment and think about that. Get along before the Lord. We go through a baptism of discipline. God purifies our life. He cleanses us and he’ll put the heart of Jesus in us and what’s the heart of Jesus? To cause division, to long for division. “Do you think I came to bring peace on Earth?” Jesus says, “No, I tell you but division.” Jesus came to divide.
Now the slander’s going to go out and the persecution’s going to be great. I mean Christians that even get challenged a little bit on causing division all back down and go, no, I’m for loving one another and they just apologize. Jesus is not apologizing for anything. He says, “no”. I came I tell you I’m in your face about this to bring what?

Jacob: Division

Timothy: Division. Don’t go out and just try this because then you’re just destroying and that’s different than division. You have to be as innocent as a dove and as fruit as a snake. In other words, the division is not because you’re technically going out and trying to divide people in your own effort. It is a division as a result of preaching repentance and faith. It’s God’s division not man’s division. Made look the same to a lot of people on the outside but there’s a huge difference. One is hellish. One is of the simple nature. One has eternal life in it if people repent. And listen to what he tells us where the division starts. We don’t want to hear it and we definitely don’t want to hear it in America. Luke chapter 12 verse 52. Jacob, go ahead and read verses 52 and 53.

Jacob: “From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

Timothy: Does that sound like a pretty comfortable thing to contemplate?

Jacob: No.

Timothy: No, it’s not. It it’s gut wrenching. And all the more when I realize he’s talking to Jewish families because the Old Testament is what? It’s all about family. And then all of a sudden, you’ve got Jesus coming along and saying, hey, I’ve come to divide all of those things. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other. So, five individuals. Three against two and two against three and so on. He’s saying, this is what he has Come to bring. If you really love okay, let me back up. The reason why this is so opposed is because we’re not repenting. This is this isn’t that I get up in the morning and go, well, then you know, there’s a family over there that seems pretty happy. I’m just going to go over there and cause division because it’s what Jesus want to bring. No, no, no, no. That’s not what this is about. Repentance and life. Eternal life go hand in hand, don’t they Jacob?

Jacob: Yes.

Timothy: Well, no, the church doesn’t believe it, because they’re not repenting. They’re not preaching repentance because it’s not good news to them. Well, this is the good news of Jesus Christ causing division. This is hopping and skipping and saying, I can repent of my sins. I have new life. I’m overcoming. I’m a different person. He’s doing the work. This is division because of good news. But since people that sit in the pews don’t consider it good news to repent and they don’t even want to hear about their sins and they want pastors that will bring them golden calves. This is a totally negative thing. They don’t even stand it because why? It tells me right away; they are not repenting. They have no joy in repenting. They’re not hungering and thirsting for righteousness.
“Those that are long for the one person that will of Jesus Christ and this family to rise to the top.” That’s what the division is about and they’re not going to hear and they’re not going to know until you’re preached. From now on, there will be five in one family divided against each other. Three against two and two against three. They will be divided This is not some abstract concept that, well, it might happen or it might not happen and look I know there’s plenty of whitewash preachers and other shows and stuff. Will talk about the love of the family and how will they ever hear the gospel. Look what they’re really whining against? They’re whining against the good news the blood of Jesus Christ. Because the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from our sins. It gives us the power to walk a holy life and if we’re not thrilled with at, this is an oppressive message. But if you love the golden calf and you love your family, you just tag Jesus on in there and then you just kind of work out. Oh yeah, we have arguments. We have discussions. Whatever.
This is serious difference between heaven and hell whether somebody’s pursuing righteousness or whether they’re staying in their sin, they will be divided. Father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law. If you want to find a good church, if you want to find a pastor that you say, I want a pastor that’s really Godly. Well, go there. Would that not be a good fruit, Jacob?

Jacob: Yeah.

Timothy: If you spotted a man who by the power of the Holy Ghost by the love of Jesus Christ by all the full gospel message where the whole family is just divided where they hate each other going back and forth all except for the one or two people that actually love Jesus Christ, that’s the positive thing. That’s the fruit to look for. Most people are going to say no, you’re the devil, you’re not of God, you’re in a cult, or whatever. The slanders go on and on and on. Anything you want to add to that, Jacob?

Jacob: No.

Timothy: Alright. Well, let’s go and finish up. Let’s push it a little bit. Let’s go to Matthew chapter 11 verse 20. I encourage people, well, I don’t encourage it. Well yes, I encourage. I urge. I rebuke all those things. Get alone with God, and ask God to crucify any part of your flesh. And it’s there, to dig it up, to bring it out. That is not thrilled with excited with. Willing to go through a baptism in order to cause proper division. In Matthew chapter 11 verse 20, Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of his miracles have been performed. Think of revival meetings, think of churches activities. Jesus will denounce most of those things. Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of his miracles have been performed, because why? Jacob, why does it say he denounced them?

Jacob: Because they did not repent.

Timothy: Did not repent. They talked about the love of Jesus Christ. Their life might have been cleaned up a little bit from drugs or this or hopelessness those little personal things everybody wants to give up but they didn’t actually repent. We’ll get in more into this in the next couple shows of how deep repentance must go. That’s just the starting little point when you see those kinds especially on TV or radio or testimonies. It only goes so far and it’s extremely shallow. So, Jesus says, “Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyree and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.” Cities of the Old Testament, they would have repented if those things had been done but you won’t repent. In verse 22, “But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyree and sin on the day of judgement than for you.” Jesus come into their town, he had done the miracles. All those things had happened but they did not repent. We’ve talked about this before in our walks Jacob. If we just run the numbers, you take 10 lepers. How many comes back to actually repent and love God.

Jacob: One.

Timothy: One. So, you got 1% out of 10. I know that’s not exact number but all through scripture, you see that example of just how few people actually repent. And here we see Jesus actually denouncing four cities and warning them. In verse 23, he says, “You, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. If the miracles that were performed in you have been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.” For all ridicule of homosexuality and all that the sexual morality that’s going on. Jesus saying to this town, “Sodom would have repented.” Then mention Gomorrah. Sodom would have repented. Matthew 11:24, “But I tell you that it’ll be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgement than for you.” That’s quite a condemnation.

Outro: This has been the Consider Podcast at www.consider.info where yesterday’s folly is today’s madness. In the beginning, the unrepentant sinners words are folly. At the end, they are wicked madness. Ecclesiastes 10:13. Judgement begins with the house of God. Therefore, let everyone who loves the Lord with an undying love pick up their cross and walk the talk. As Peter the wrote. “Therefore, prepare your minds for action. Be self-controlled”. First Peter 1:13-14.
