Watch the true story of WinePress Publishing—a Christian self publishing company that was destroyed through a coordinated effort of a disgruntled former employee, the City Attorney, and Enumclaw Police Department.

A minimal glimpse into the good that they destroyed is presented in this foundational video.
Nothing like being forced to do the honest work for Seattle’s King County Prosecutors and Washington State police!
But then, getting down to truthful facts does require work which Prosecutors and Judges clearly loathe.
Points
Trial Case Number & Info
Evidence will show that the trial of the accused was a pretext to destroy a church Enumclaw Detective Grant McCall, King County Prosecutors and Judge Lori K. Smith found offensive.
As would be expected for such corruption, it was as prosecutors fully admitted sexual allegations with zero evidence. Allegations that Enumclaw Detective Grant McCall scripted out.
King County Superior Court, State of Washington, Plaintiff, V. Malcolm Fraser, Defendant Cause No. 12-1-01886-0 Knt
Truth Translation: King County Superior Court, State of Washington, Plaintiff V. Sound Doctrine Church of Enumclaw Washington.
Exactly What Happened
Washington State Prosecutors and Judges, as is self-evident, are hostile to Christianity. To say nothing of the open opposition by Judges to males, white males and especially Christian white males.
A hate crime thus was marketed and enflamed which King County Prosecutors tore into like hungry wolves.
Over the past 45 years of preaching and living the whole gospel, those who oppose the Truth or deserted Jesus have instilled their hatred into others.
These individuals have honed their hatred of lies for decades and know exactly what slanders work best individually to stir up hatred.
Those few who did testify in court for the prosecution could easily serve jail time for perjury if it were not for the truth that Seattle's King County Prosecutors lusted for the lies.
In Seattle, King County Prosecutors, who not only invite liars but never prosecute those who lie for them, conspired to frame up a false prosecution.
A prosecution in which King County prosecutors openly admitted they had "no proof," not to mention Police scripted out the accusations.
This whole show trial put on by King County Prosecutors was overwhelmed with lies. For example, it was flatly stated that Sound Doctrine Church members were not allowed to talk to their non-member families. That is 100%, like so many, a complete and total lie. The trial video is coming soon.
King County prosecutors sent home any juror who believed there must be proof of a crime.
Really!
No Evidence
Prosecutor Jason Simmons stated that there "just has to be trials without evidence." This is a double lie.
1: There was evidence but King County Prosecutors and City of Enumclaw Police refused to get the evidence.
2: There is always evidence - the question is how much and of what quality.
The trial of Malcolm Fraser was not about Mr. Fraser but, as Enumclaw Detective Grant McCall told prosecutors, the case revolved around the "whole church."
Washington State Prosecutors and Judges wallowed in the mud of lies and slander promoted behind hidden court prosecutor doors.
Using false accusations from a multi-level marketed hate crime by Athena Dean Holtz and Detective Grant McCall to destroy Sound Doctrine Church King County Prosecutors lusted for a self-righteous "win." Thus, many individuals had contacted King County Prosecutors to provide them with the lies their self-righteous ears wanted to hear.
These lies never saw the examination in court nor were tested beforehand for truth by King County prosecutor Mark Larson and team.
Indeed, with full approval by Prosecutor Mark Larson, Enumclaw Detective Grant McCall did not even go to the house to investigate. Chances are Enumclaw Detective Grant McCall did go, or knew that if he went to investigate the house, it would prove the accused crime impossible.
Prosecutors, Police and Judges absolutely approved of such actions and inaction.
Judge Lori K. Smith, King County Prosecutors and City of Enumclaw Police were hostile to evidence because it was the "whole" church they were after.
Prosecutors, Judges, Basics
Prosecutor Dan Satterberg, Prosecutor David Seaver, Prosecutor Jason Simmons, Prosecutor Lisa Johnson, Prosecutor Mark Larson claims to be a holy mission, Prosecutor Nicole Weston, Prosecutor Rich Anderson, Judge Beth M. Andrus, Judge Lori K. Smith, Prosecutor Leesa Manion who is carrying forth the corruption torch for Dan Satterberg.
Central Goal
The central goal through-out the decades long self-fulfilling lies of this hate crime had one central element.
The central goal was: keep individuals from being able to listen to Timothy Williams.
In short, Judge Lori K. Smith and Prosecutors are hostile to real Christianity.
Naturally, if someone actually listened to the facts of truth, then their sins and crimes would come to light.
This evil of poisoning minds is an old-time tactic, Prosecutors and propionates of the hatred used this fuel to ignite the prosecution-persecution.
Illegal, yes, but those are the facts.
But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers. (Acts 14:2)
Jury Verdict "Guilty"
Of course, the jury pronounced "guilty."
The most manipulated aspect of the "justice system" is jury duty. Only the most gullible individuals are selected by Washington State. Indeed, Judge Lori K. Smith ensured that the already dumbed down individuals were further retarded ensuring that the tools to arrive at a logical conclusion never entered her court room.
The, and I do mean, the very fact Enumclaw Detective Grant McCall was allowed to sit alone with the accuser and script out the accusations demonstrates the complete corruption of Judge Lori K. Smith's courtroom.
This is why Washington State Prosecutors referr to jury duty as a "dog and pony show."

Crushed in the WinePress
It was a busy, bustling morning at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, as a group of workers made their way through the ticket counter, TSA line, and finally to their gate. The group was a number of members of a company by the name of WinePress Publishing, and they were on their way to their industry’s biggest trade show of the year, known as the International Christian Retail Show, or ICRS. As the group boarded the plane and waited for takeoff to their destination, the excitement was palpable. The team looked forward to the opportunity to serve a number of the authors they had been working with for years, with the hope of getting their books into even more distributors and bookstores.
On the 5-hour flight, the WinePress crew shared conversations, watched movies, and otherwise found ways to entertain themselves as they awaited their arrival into their destination, Orlando, Florida. Once they touched down, they made their way to the hotel room, settled in, and prepared for the next day. Prior to the show, there was plenty to prepare for. WinePress Publishing had a large booth that took the better part of a day to assemble. As such, many of the team members spent the day prior to the start of the convention constructing the booth, which replicated the look and feel of a bookstore, showcasing a number of their authors’ titles. Beyond the bookstore center of the booth, it featured a number of stations where authors could sign and give away copies of their books, along with a kiosk with free coffee.
With the booth constructed, the WinePress team looked forward to the next day with anticipation. When it finally came, they shared a breakfast together at a local Denny’s, and then it was time to head over to the convention center to prep for the opening of the doors to the attendees. Once the doors opened, the WinePress booth became quite the attraction. Throughout the day, WinePress authors signed and handed out copies of their books, people lined up for their cup of free coffee, and at the end of each day, Gutenberg, WinePress’s official mascot, gave away a free iPad or iPod Touch to one lucky winner. The WinePress booth became so popular that George W. Bush, the 43rd President of the United States, even made an appearance and helped award one of the iPads.
Okay, well, it wasn’t actually George W. Bush. It was instead John Morgan, an inspirational speaker and published author himself, who found his way over to the authors and attendees did. Such a large undertaking took a lot of planning. For months prior, a plethora of banners, signage, flyers, newspaper ads, and even bus ads were created. The booth itself was custom designed, constructed, and then shipped, and authors were provided everything they needed in order for their book signings to be as smooth and as seamless as possible. This was all made possible by the company’s executive publisher, Timothy Williams. Part of what made WinePress Publishing so special wasn’t just the fact that it was hands down the best Christian self-publishing house in the industry. It was that many of the people who worked within it were members of Sound Doctrine Church.
This formed a bond much deeper and more profound than is typically shared among mere co-workers. It was undeniable, and repeated often among authors, editors, and a host of people from the outside looking in, that it was extraordinary how well WinePress was ran. And not just ICRS, everything that the company did. This was thanks to Timothy Williams. Williams, who had served previously as the head pastor of Sound Doctrine Church, adopted what many would classify as strong business acumen, the extraordinary way that he ran WinePress. Far from having any official training in running a business, however, Timothy simply approached running WinePress in the same way that he did everything else, with undivided love and devotion to God. It was for this reason ICRS and everything else around it and within WinePress flourished. From the outside looking in, many would come to the conclusion that WinePress had always been this way. However, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, WinePress had some very dark beginnings. Beginnings that were so bad, they were even criminal.
Despite running the business in the heydays of WinePress Publishing, Timothy Williams was not the founder. The founder of the company is an individual who we will be referring to as Jezebel. To say that WinePress’s early days were rocky would be an understatement. To fully understand just how badly WinePress was ran, we first need to go back to the 1980s to begin to paint the picture of who Jezebel is. From 1983 to 1985, Jezebel, with the help of her husband and two other individuals, ran a charity.
This charity was run as a telephone boiler room. A boiler room, if you’re not already familiar with the phrase, you think dishonest sales tactics combined with things like selling penny stocks or otherwise unwise investments. In Jezebel’s outfit, her tactic was to take advantage by disarming skeptics through the guise of a charity. The way that it worked was that she sold trash bags full of various items for $35 apiece. Donors were promised the money would go toward drug abuse education programs. That money, as you might imagine, never found its way to who Jezebel claimed that it would.
So, in other words, she managed to sell literal garbage to unsuspecting victims for $35 a pop, all under the guise of supporting a charity. To help ensure the success of the con, Jezebel and her associates laundered the money through a complex series of transactions before finally being distributed to Jezebel and the others. Throughout the length of this racket, Jezebel was able to make $280,000, which if adjusted for inflation would be approximately $817,000 today. Upon an investigation that uncovered Jezebel’s scam, the then Attorney General of Washington State, Ken Eikenberry, filed a lawsuit against Jezebel and her associates, including her husband. Beyond the scam itself, the AG charged that the charity not only failed to maintain required records, but intentionally handled the money so it could not be traced. The suit also alleged the charity provided false information on its registration application with the Secretary of State.
This is a perfect encapsulation of who Jezebel is. Taking advantage of people’s trust in the idea that surely no one is evil enough to use a charity or Christian company to defraud or steal from individuals. As many would find out later, such trust would be misplaced. Fast forward to the early 90s and Jezebel was on to her next racket. This time it was Christian book publishing. Eventually Jezebel became a member of Sound Doctrine Church and as a result met its pastor, Timothy Williams. Williams and Sound Doctrine Church had a profound effect on Jezebel. Despite her dark and storied history, she showcased on numerous occasions a true desire to change, that is to leave behind her corrupt, conning, lying, cheating, and stealing ways. As such, she even published a book where she detailed her own shortcomings, documenting the continued shady behavior she had practiced since her days of selling trash bags as a charity.
As someone who seemingly enjoyed finding what she considered to be gullible people, Jezebel had this to say about her journey into Christian publishing.
Lady: I found that advertising on Christian radio was the ultimate bonanza. I found the Christian radio audience to be trusting and even gullible. It became easy for me to use and abuse my relationships in the church to get where I wanted to go.
Jan: Now when I came on staff, oh my goodness what an eye-opening experience. Her accounting department was a disaster. She had multiple set of books, you know, not just one set of QuickBooks, but she had three altogether. Taxes hadn’t been paid, payroll taxes were behind, and the operation was just not run right at all. I would ask the person who was currently there as the bookkeeper trying to sort something out, “Well, I’m having trouble trying to reconcile this bank account, could you give me the last statement.” And he’s like, “Oh well, I quit reconciling that years ago.” I’m like, “Years ago? How do you know how much money’s in the account?” Well anyway, she had hired, before it came, she had hired Timothy Williams as a business consultant.
Now he was the pastor of the church, but and he wasn’t really a businessman, but she needed help, and so he agreed to help her out, and fortunately he wanted things done right. He ran a tight ship and he assured me, no, everything is going to be done according to standard accounting practices, all taxes are going to be paid, no, we’re doing everything by the book.
Thomas Jan: The majority of Jezebel’s improvements, temporary as they may have been, came as a result of being a part of Sound Doctrine Church. The love, self-discipline, and service of other people proved to do some good in her life. It was these very same virtues that eventually began to transform WinePress publishing as well. Part of what eventually made WinePress such a unique and incredible place to work was that it was comprised not merely of employees, but largely of people who went to church together and considered themselves to be family. It was as a result, of course, of Timothy Williams and his leadership.
Eventually, after a number of discussions and seeing the positive impact Mr. Williams was having on the business, even from a distance, he was offered the opportunity to buy the business.
Jan: He was going to buy the company. She was going to sell the company to him, and so, of course, that involved the accounting department. We worked on all that, and she actually advertised it. I’m going to read from this. Put an ad in the Christian Retailers Association magazine, and this is in June 2006, and she wrote, “WinePress Publishing Group has announced an upcoming change in ownership. Timothy Williams will be purchasing the company from Athena Dean. Williams’ wife will continue in her role as editorial director. Dean called the new management structure a team effort with Timothy’s gift of administration, Carla’s gifts of editing, and my gifts of marketing, the company will continue to be at the forefront of custom publishing with a reputation that communicates integrity.”
So, it was just an incredible time because she was going to continue at the company, but she would be an employee, which is really what she wanted. She did not want to run the company. She liked marketing. She liked traveling. She liked going to conferences, and that’s what she wanted to do, and this would just take such a burden off her shoulders. Plus, Carla was staying. Carla Williams, Timothy’s wife, was staying, and they spent a lot of time working together. They would give speeches together at seminars. They would travel together, and so, it was just something that, it was just such a great combination.
Well, as time went on, though, it just, at some point, I don’t know, she had this dream. She was talking about how she was going to fire everybody at WinePress and start all over again, and I think there were some other things going on with her I didn’t really know about, but Timothy was kind of picking up on this. Some things, she just doesn’t really have a pure heart about this anymore. So, you know, what is going on there? And I think Athena pretty much knew because, as the employees there at WinePress, we love Timothy. We just appreciated him so much, what he was bringing to the company, and we knew about the sale. Everybody knew about the sale. It was being announced more and more. And so, Athena knew that if he didn’t buy the company, she’d have to fire everybody because I doubt if anybody’d be left. I would not. I would not have stayed, and I’m sure most everyone would have been gone, too.
She was told, “Okay, Timothy has decided he’s not going to buy the company. He just couldn’t. He just couldn’t hurt her. The purity of her heart was just not there.” Well, Athena freaked out. She was just devastated with that. I mean, she knew the foundation of her company was on him, really, and Carla, too, but, I mean, mainly on him. And so, she just kept saying, “No, he has to. He has to.” And they just kept saying, “No, he’s not going to. He is not going to buy the company.” And she just kept going on and on, and I finally even had to say to Athena, “Athena, he’s not going to buy it.” It was presented, okay, there is one option if she would be interested that he would be willing to do, and that would be if she wanted to make him an offer of employment. He would consider coming on full-time as an employee.
Thomas: Despite Williams not purchasing the company, his newfound involvement as its executive publisher had quick and dramatic results for the business. It may help first, however, to take a quick moment to describe what type of business WinePress publishing really was. Now, during that time, there were two main methods for publishing. There was royalty, or traditional publishing, and then there was self-publishing. Royalty, or traditional publishing, typically means going through an agent who pitches your manuscript to publishers. If accepted, the author gets a cash advance, which varies based upon how many books they think the author is going to sell, and then the publisher, more or less, owns the rights to the work. The author then receives royalties on the books that are sold from that point forward.
Self-publishing is just what the name suggests. The author does everything from the cover design, to editing, to typesetting, or hires freelancers to fill some or all of these needs. The benefit of traditional publishers is that they do all the work for you, or at least most of it. The downside, of course, is that an author earns a much smaller amount on every book that they sell because the business has put so much into the book for you. Self-publishing, on the other hand, provides the author the highest possible earnings. However, they then have the burden of undertaking the daunting task of producing a professional, marketable book.
The beauty of WinePress Publishing was that it merged these two ideas together, providing authors the best of both worlds. WinePress was a self-publishing house, which meant it offered all the same services as a traditional publisher, such as cover design, editing, typesetting, printing, publicity, distribution, and much more. However, the author maintained 100% ownership of all of the royalties that came from the book sales, and ownership of the book itself. Now, other self-publishers did exist during this time, but WinePress stood alone in that the quality of the books that were being produced, from the editing, to the design, to the print quality, often surprised book buyers if and when they discovered the book was not traditionally published.
This was always the promise the WinePress brand had made. However, it wasn’t until Timothy Williams became more and more involved in WinePress that it truly began to deliver on that promise. Beyond the core publishing services that WinePress offered through Williams’ leadership, they began offering others as well. This included adding an eBook publishing offer before even many traditional publishers were considering it for books that were not their top sellers. Mr. Williams helped completely revamp WinePress Publishing’s packages, making it significantly easier to purchase and go through the publishing process. He also helped get the sales team into order, providing them the tools they needed to help align authors with the specific packages and services that were the best fit for the type of book they were trying to publish.
Eventually, with the rapid growth of WinePress, Mr. Williams commissioned the creation of a web-based system known as the “Co-Captain”. Its purpose was to make the publishing process endlessly more efficient for both WinePress employees, contractors, and the authors themselves. Today, there are tools like Basecamp, Slack, Asana, Munday, and a plethora of others. But during this time in WinePress’s history, however, there was nothing of the kind. The Co-Captain not only helped manage projects, but every aspect of the publishing process. It eliminated the need for email correspondence as well, as authors just logged into the system to communicate with their project manager, who had a host of tools at their disposal to get the editing, typesetting, cover design, and promotion done incredibly quickly.
The Co-Captain made the process so efficient, some WinePress project managers were able to manage over 100 projects with relative ease. Beyond the work of serving authors through the publication of their books, WinePress began to develop a number of extra marketing strategies that helped grow the company further. They regularly published writing, publishing, and literary tools and tips in their company’s blog called “WinePress of Words”. A WinePress employee was even published in Smashing Magazine, arguably one of the largest design blogs in the world at that time. The marketing team at WinePress even created a book, writing, and publishing themed bi-weekly comic which featured a diverse array of unique characters. Some of these included fan favorites such as “Grammar Police”, “The Royal Book”, “The Overly Dramatic Apostrophe”, and many others.
As WinePress continued to grow under William’s leadership, they continued to hire on even more employees and contractors. Some were members of the church and others were not. Regardless of they were church members, everyone agreed it was an incredible place to work. As a result of the growth of the business, WinePress expanded, taking over an entire separate office space, which included a storefront, which eventually became notation printing. While there was plenty of work to be done and everybody kept busy, breaks were mandatory and there was no working through lunch. The lunchroom itself contained an extra-large family-style dining table where the vast majority of workers would share lunch, laughs, and conversation. The table contained multiple chess sets with timers, which were used regularly on break times. A Nintendo Wii could be found in the conference room, connected to the projector for the occasional match of Mario Kart or Wii Sports.
During the colder months, it wasn’t out of the question for an afternoon to be taken off for the team to take a company-wide sledding day. As the company continued to experience record growth and success, WinePress’ executive publisher Timothy Williams made the decision to take the entire company on a cruise to Alaska. The cruise had numerous purposes. It was first and foremost a working cruise. There were a number of team meetings planned, a number of which revolved around the concept of potentially creating and rebranding WinePress’ parent company to expand into even more services. Beyond the work itself, team members explored various areas while they were in port. They went on hikes, tried various restaurants, went kayaking, and much more throughout the length of the cruise.
After a number of team meetings, Mr. Williams came to the conclusion with the input of the team that the new parent company, which would include WinePress Publishing in addition to other sub brands, would be called “Gutenberg Innovations”. The parent brand was inspired in part by Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press, keeping with the publishing theme while being flexible enough to encompass other brands and services. Everyone within the team was thrilled with the new direction. Everyone had fun brainstorming potential names, slogans, taglines, brand identity, and more. The idea of expanding into new markets only added to the excitement. Everyone was excited for the new changes except for one person, and that person was Jezebel.
Beyond the company-wide meetings, Timothy also took the opportunity, along with management, to meet with each individual department to review potential ways that they could improve. Some departments had minor adjustments, and others had larger overalls or systems put in place to help the company more cohesively move in its new direction. But when it came time for Jezebel and her department to meet with Timothy, she decided to go into full sabotage mode. Potentially because she had grown embittered due to the success WinePress was seeing as a result of Timothy, and in spite of herself, or because it was simply in her nature to destroy, she argued and fought over the new direction of the company.
This was despite the fact that every other WinePress employee was enthusiastic and excited for the new direction. It reached a point where every single time Timothy attempted to make an improvement or change for the good of the company, Jezebel countered him with resistance, undermining, arguing, and constant dripping that made it impossible for him to make any progress. As a result of Jezebel’s constant nagging behavior, all the work accomplished throughout the length of that cruise had to be scrapped. There was genuine disappointment among members of the WinePress team, not just because all the work and input everyone contributed came to nothing, but because everyone was excited to see the potential growth WinePress could receive as a result of the company’s new direction.
It was in Jezebel’s character, however, to be needed, and to be the center of attention. She was also stubbornly fixated upon tactics of the past, and was too unwilling to even entertain the concept of change. And when she saw her company leaving her archaic, selfish, and manipulating ways of building a business left behind, she decided to do everything in her power to prevent it from moving forward. As it would turn out, however, this would not be the last time Jezebel would sabotage WinePress. In fact, it was only the beginning. The beginning of a descent that would eventually turn so dark she would threaten physical harm of other WinePress employees and property.
One thing that became increasingly clear over time was that with Jezebel owning WinePress, little or nothing could be done to move the company forward. From the point of the cruise moving onward, Jezebel fell further and further into her old ways. What began as an occasional disruption turned into near-daily meetings of management dealing with messes and damage that Jezebel was causing. One of Jezebel’s sales tactics, which hearkened back to her charity fraud days, was to disparage other publishers. As lying was so ingrained in her nature, she would flat out slander other publishers while attempting to sell prospects on WinePress’s services. As a result of Jezebel’s behavior, Timothy instituted a no-gossip policy, which helped ensure that gossip of any kind was not tolerated at WinePress, ensuring the protection of authors, contractors, other employees, and even competitors.
Despite these efforts, Jezebel refused to comply and continued to disparage other publishers until the threat of a lawsuit came to the forefront. To help protect the reputation and quality of WinePress, Jezebel was moved to the accounting department. While there wasn’t any way for her to slander competitors, she continued to find ways to make work more difficult for other employees. Extra rules, checklists, and regular meetings with numerous team members were acquired to the point where it felt to WinePress employees that they were dealing with a toddler. Here are just a few of the things fellow employees had to say about their time having to work along Jezebel.
Jezebel blames the whole company for her own mistakes and comes out sparkling.
I documented one day where she lied 13 times and wasted hours of time.
Jezebel admitted to attempting to sabotage my work because she hated to be in the accounting department. It will take at least five years to undo the damage Jezebel has done to WinePress.
Thomas Jan: As time went on, Jezebel’s behavior became increasingly worse. While employees of WinePress were forced to participate in meetings meant to help keep Jezebel in line, Timothy took the brunt of her horrible behavior. Throughout the course of Jezebel’s life, dating back to the trash bag charity fraud she undertook in the mid-80s, she was used to being able to manipulate and fool just about anyone. As she said in her book, she found that Christians were extremely gullible and she expected Timothy to be the same. However, as she would later write, Mr. Williams was the one person that she couldn’t manipulate. Jezebel would get pulled into meetings over and over again with Timothy in a desperate attempt to get her to follow simple rules and procedure and to as much as possible prevent her from wasting the time of other employees. And of course, a complete unwillingness to admit any wrongdoing despite being presented with undeniable evidence of said wrongdoing.
It was as if every conversation with Jezebel was a sales pitch or a con job that was exhausting to parse and wade through. After causing other fires within the company that Timothy and other employees had to put out, however, Jezebel hit a brief moment of reprieve. From all outward accounts, she was beginning to see just how obnoxious and damaging she had been to the company, employees, and especially Timothy Williams. As such, she wrote a letter to Timothy, outlining in her own words just how terrible she had been.
Letter: “Dear Timothy, he is answering that prayer and the pain that I have caused you to endure is horrible. I finally get the post you put on the boards about how nice I am while stabbing you in the back. I am so easily flattered by those who write lovely words about me, but the truth is those people don’t really know me. They don’t live with me, so it’s easy for them to have positive things to say about me. They’ve never crossed me, stood up to me, or pointed out my sin, so of course all they see is my good side. The truth is I’ve destroyed every close relationship I’ve ever had in my life because I’m a bully, a manipulator, a liar, a user, and completely arrogant. No wonder I’ve always gravitated to business and excelled there because I never have to get close enough to people for them to see the real me. I am truly no better than a man who calls himself a Christian and is well respected by all who secretly beats his wife and kids at home behind closed doors. I have stabbed you in the back repeatedly every time you rebuke me. In my heart, I grow more and more bitter and rage against you and also the Lord. This is my pattern and the way I avoid the pain of the cross. If I harden my heart and blame you for my condition, I won’t have to feel the pain of all my rebellion, pride, bitterness, resentment, betrayal, lies, and self-love. I do not want to stay this way. I must face up to the truth now or there is no hope for me. I do not expect to be able to fellowship with you and Carla as it will take a long time to prove myself faithful and worthy of such fellowship, but I must make it right somehow. I’m not sure how, but I must at least be restored to you as my Father and Lord. You were an answer to my prayers 12 years ago, and instead of treating you as such, I have treated you as if you were a curse. I have hated you in my heart, the one and only earthly father in my life who has loved me enough to stand up to me. Please accept my confession of my sins against you. I am deeply grieved over all the pain I’ve caused you and Carla. I intend for this sorrow that I feel to lead to true repentance."
Thomas Jan: While to those who are new to who this particular person is, this could appear to be a genuine heartfelt outpouring of sorrow for wrongs done, it would only turn out to be flowery religious sounding words and a little more. What she was able to do, however, was accurately portray who she was and is as a person and why she had been causing so much destruction. A short period of time after sending the letter, however, a dispute arose in regards to taxes that Jezebel owned as a result of selling the company. This, in addition to other arguments that arose around Jezebel, eventually led to her submitting her resignation, both from WinePress Publishing and Sound Doctrine Church. It was from this point forward that Jezebel would dedicate every ounce of her energy to seeking to destroy WinePress, Timothy, and the church that had done so much good in spite of her constant bitterness and manipulation. And as it would turn out, she would eventually get the help of an Enumclaw police officer. This officer’s name? Enumclaw Police Detective Grant McCall.
Upon offering her resignation to WinePress and Sound Doctrine, Jezebel wasted little time acting upon the bitterness she had been harboring, especially leading up to her exit from the company. While she was no longer working for WinePress or a member of church, she still lived with an individual who worked at WinePress and was a member of the church. This individual was kind enough to allow Jezebel to live with her. Despite the fact that she made all of the house payments and owned all of the furnishings within the house.
Joe Owens: She had a lot of financial obligations. I was in a position where I was able to, so it’s fine with me. It’s like, yeah, I’ll pay the the mortgage, the rent, the food and everything. But now that this is where she was, no, we were no longer going to be roommates. So, I started to take steps to move out of our house. We were renting a house at that point. So, one day I came over and started moving some things out of the house. She wasn’t home at the time, but so I just went in and started boxing stuff up, moving them out. I had some friends that were helping me. Well, she came home while I was moving out. And what does she do? She doesn’t really say anything to me. She calls the police. So, the police come over and so they come into the house, to talk, I guess, to Athena to find out what the problem is.
So, anyway, so they come in and the first question they ask, which I thought was really strange, is they ask me and my nephews, they’re like, “Where’s your church located?”
Where’s the sound doctrine church located? It’s over at the warehouses are out here.
And I’m like, “What are you talking about? I mean, what does my church have to do with this situation?” So, anyway, gave the address of the church, I mean, it’s on the main street of town on Cole Street told them where it was, but that was a little odd. Then Athena made this comment to me. She was going, “Well, Jan, the attorney at, at the new company sent me a letter saying, they’re going to sue me if I don’t pay my taxes, this tax to the state.” And I’m like, “Well, Athena, I mean, they’re your taxes.” And so, she just, oh, she just lost it. When I said that she goes, “Oh, Jan, how could you be so blind,” and all this stuff? Well, she’s getting so upset. And then the police say to me, “Well, you’re going to have to go outside.” And I’m like, “Why do I have to go outside? She’s the one who’s upset and everything. Why do I have to go outside?”
But anyway, okay. I had to go outside. And so, that really began kind of a journey. I was pretty surprised about, I was shocked actually with the police department, their comments on the incident report requests for advice regarding a civil issue. “Former house guests have left the residence, but left behind property that needs to be picked up.” Well, first of all, I mean, that may be really mad. What they’re calling me a house guest and I have some property that I want to pick up? Yes. The whole house, all the furniture in the house, except for her bedroom belongs to me, the dining room, the living room, the kitchen, the washer dryer, everything belongs to me.
So, and then the police, right. “The homeowner, which she didn’t own the home is separating from Sound Doctrine Church and reporting party is concerned about the house guest and their association with the church.” I’m like, “What?” I mean, what do you mean separating from the church? I mean, if you don’t want to go to church anymore, fine, don’t come to church, but why is this a police matter? And why do I have to leave my house? Because they don’t like the church I go to. So, and then they go on. “Okay, reporting party advised you contact an attorney for handling property issues.” So, I’m like, “Oh, okay. Well, okay. So, what I have to get an attorney to get my furniture back?” I guess that’s the case.
So anyway, I had a furniture, I had an attorney send a letter to her attorney saying, “Okay, I would like to come by or I plan on coming by on this day at this time to pick up my furniture.” So, I went rented a truck and had some friends helping me that were willing to help me and everything started heading over there. And so, we thought, “Okay, well, look, let’s go by the police station first.” We’ll get a police officer to come to come with this just so everybody, everything stays calm and stuff like that. So, this is my second incident report is when we stopped by the police department to get a civil standby. And you won’t believe what happened.
Well, they refused to give us a civil standby. They said that, my roommate had changed the locks. She did not want me coming in the house. And here’s the police saying that we could be for arrested for burglary, if we entered. I’m like, “What? I could be arrested for burglary for entering my own house to get my own furniture.” I’m, like, “What is going on?” So, and I mean, why does Athena get to decide whether I come to my own house or not? Why are the police listening to her? Anyway, the whole thing was very, very upsetting. So anyway, I said, “I had to tell my friends, well, thanks for offering, but I guess it’s not going to happen and take the truck back.” And so, it’s like, “Okay, where do I go from here? Why are the police against me?”
I knew Athena couldn’t stay in that house by herself. She couldn’t afford it. She didn’t have the money. So, I did hear, okay, that she moved out of the house. So, I’m like, “Okay.” So, I went back to the police station and I said, “Well, I want to report a theft.” All of my possessions have been stolen. So, the police officer goes, “Oh, okay, well just a minute. I have to make a phone call.” So, the police call Athena to find out what is going on. I mean, why are the police consulting my roommate? Or I guess he’s my ex-roommate at that point. Well, anyway, they are, so they consult Athena. And so, the police officer comes back and he says, “Oh, okay. I talked to your former roommate. All your furniture and possessions are in the garage.” And then he wrote down on here, “This is an ongoing civil dispute between reporting party and her former church organization.”
I never even mentioned anything about my church when I went in there. And I’m not a church organization. I’m an individual who wants to get her furniture. So, I don’t know. The police have just totally turned this into something about my church. They obviously don’t like my church. They don’t like me because I go to this church. What ends up happening is, so at that point, I contact the owner of the house. And he knows about the furniture in the garage. And so, I make arrangements with him. He says, “Yeah, I can meet with my property manager.” He was living out of state. I met with her. I saw what was there. I arranged to go pick everything up. I was going to this one day and then this person is going to help me got injured.
So, I had to do another day. So, I had a date set up with him that I was going to go and pick up the furniture. Well, then I heard Athena did this. She had this blog about Sound Doctrine Church and WinePress and how much she hated it all. And she was just going on and on with her hate and her slander. Anyway, she posted on there that, “I went over to the house and I disposed of all Jan’s possessions because they were abandoned.” And I’m like, “What?” And so, I contacted the or I had my attorney at that point, you know, communication was going through the attorney. I had my attorney contact my landlord and he was like, “Yeah, Athena came by and took all the furniture. These were in the garage.”
Okay, so there’s my lifetime accumulation of possessions gone. And I’m not a young woman, either. I don’t have another lifetime to live and accumulate. The things that you do throughout a life, it’s like everything gone. So okay, after I calm down from that, I go, “Okay, well, I’m going to go back. I’m going to go back to the police now and tell them.” Now there is okay, it’s a theft. Everything is gone. So, I go back to the police and I tell them. “Okay, everything, all my possessions gone, there has been a theft.” You know what the police tell me? We don’t get involved. We don’t get involved in civil disputes. What? You have been involved all along the way. Now you don’t get along in civil disputes. So anyway, it just became totally, totally clear that the police were totally against our church.
Thomas Jan: Jezebel gained nothing from destroying all of an elderly woman’s possessions. This is just the type of sociopathic behavior she’s exhibited for most of her life. Upon destroying the life of an innocent old lady, Jezebel opened up new inroads with the Enumclaw Police Department as she discovered a shared hatred for Sound Doctrine Church and its members. This eventually led to her coming into regular contact with Enumclaw Police Detective Grant McCall. In fact, Jezebel and McCall would share an exhaustive list of emails back and forth expressing their shared hatred for Sound Doctrine Church. Some of this communication also stemmed around Jezebel’s son. This had to do in part because he was caught on video stalking around the house of a Sound Doctrine Church member at 3 a.m. tapping on windows, slamming on one of the doors, knocking over decorations, and otherwise harassing those who lived there.
The Enumclaw Police were called leading to his detainment. Upon hearing the news that Jezebel’s son was in custody, McCall reached out to her after which she confirmed she knew he was at the residence harassing Sound Doctrine Church members. Which does seem odd. Why would she already know beforehand that her son was harassing Sound Doctrine Church members? It could be she was using and abusing him just like she did everyone else, taking advantage of his long track record of alcoholism and volatility. In any case, McCall ran interference for Jezebel’s son, helping to ensure he faced no charges for the harassment and the destruction of property. Rather than doing any type of police work, McCall instead emailed back and forth with Jezebel offering his version of spiritual advice in regards to her son. Naturally, Jezebel blamed her son’s on Sound Doctrine Church, stating that he used to be a perfectly good, well-mannered, well-behaved Christian boy before he became in contact with the church.
Now this is a very curious claim, seeing as how he was never a member of Sound Doctrine Church, but far be it from Jezebel to take personal responsibility for how she raised and mistreated her own son. McCall responded to one of Jezebel’s many emails by stating that her son must find, “He needs to find a Church that serves a risen Savior. Not this cult stuff”. True to McCall form, he dismissed the actual crime that was committed in this situation in favor of slandering the church instead. Par for the course in terms of McCall’s corruption. But at the same time of being in touch with McCall, Jezebel began reaching out to any and every former member of Sound Doctrine Church that she could find.
While this list was short, they did exist and Jezebel did her best to ignite any bitterness she could in order to manipulate them for her own purposes. And it was with these embittered former members with whom Jezebel began to recruit in her campaign of slander against her former church and against WinePress Publishing. Keep in mind, as we’ve already covered, Jezebel accurately characterized who she was and is as a person. That said, there was no doubt she was acting in accordance with her own self-characterized sociopathic personality. One woman in particular with whom Jezebel started communicating was someone to whom we will be referring to as Delilah. Delilah had attended Sound Doctrine Church for many years and for a time her husband worked for WinePress Publishing. After exiting the church and WinePress on less than happy circumstances, Jezebel began spending a lot of time around Delilah and her family and this included her children. Not too long after spending a significant amount of time around Jezebel, one of Delilah’s daughters suddenly developed the idea that she had been abused by one of the pastors of Sound Doctrine Church.
This pastor also just so happened to be a member of WinePress’s current management team. As a result, this minor reported to her counselor, a counselor who Jezebel knew personally, that she had been abused and this eventually made its way to Enumclaw Police Detective Grant McCall. Prior to this meeting with McCall, this particular daughter only had a vague generalized accusation of abuse. This testimony conveniently transformed becoming significantly more graphic, detailed and incoherent as a result of them being fabricated by the detective Grant McCall during the interview.
Expert: I mean this entire interview is not accepted. Every single act, alleged act is suggested first by the officer.
Prosecutor: Every act?
Expert: Yes, every act.
Thomas Jan: Jezebel anxiously awaited the outcome of these interviews with McCall as she waited right outside the Enumclaw Police Station while they took place. After all, it was Jezebel and McCall who were salivating at the opportunity to destroy WinePress Publishing and Sound Doctrine Church and they were all too willing to use anything and anyone in order to do that. After completing his interviews, a grand total of zero investigation, McCall never even took the time to visit the residence where these allegations supposedly took place. McCall entered WinePress Publishing and arrested the aforementioned pastor and manager. McCall’s assertion as to why he moved forward with the arrest, or to put it another way, evidence that convinced him of guilt, he said, “I could tell he was guilty because of the look on his face.”
Despite how highly scientific the look on the suspect’s face method is for determining guilt, no further investigation was ever completed. When this case was later passed on to King County prosecutors, no request was made for anything relevant to the investigation as instead they wanted all information on Sound Doctrine Church. Watch the previous episode if you haven’t already to learn more on Detective Grant McCall.
Now that Jezebel and McCall had successfully utilized their victim, a miner, to fabricate allegations against a Sound Doctrine Church member, it was time to use this as a weapon to destroy WinePress. Once the allegations hit the press, starting with the local newspaper, the Courier Herald, word quickly spread among the publishing industry that surrounded WinePress Publishing. Many current and prospective authors withdrew and stopped doing business with WinePress. For the few who asked about the allegations, many were immediately understanding and they could see the evidence of Jezebel’s behavior leading up to it. Nevertheless, many long-time contractors, customers, and friends of the company began to distance themselves. This in turn led to an ever-increasing downturn for the company’s revenue.
As you might imagine, this put tremendous strain upon the company and its employees. Eventually it reached a point where WinePress struggled to make payroll. This is a particular point that put individuals who were members of both Sound Doctrine and WinePress Publishing to the test. While one-by-one contractors and friends started leaving WinePress, the core employees stayed despite the fact that they were only able to receive partial pay. The turmoil during this period, however, wasn’t relegated to WinePress. Vandalism, death threats, and other hate crimes were taking place against the church during this time. Emboldened by the fact that Enumclaw Police did nothing to stop or punish crimes against Sound Doctrine Church or WinePress, one couple even took the opportunity to break into WinePress’ warehouse.
As with the shot-out windows, graffiti, death threats, harassment, property damage, assault, and other crimes committed against Sound Doctrine Church members, Enumclaw Police did nothing. During this highly turbulent and stressful time, Jezebel was able to contact some employees of the company and attempt to scare them into quitting from WinePress to help hasten the demise of the company. One individual, unhappy about WinePress’ financial situation, decided to join hands with Jezebel and in similar fashion chose to start causing trouble for the employees that remained. This individual we refer to as Cora.
Jan Owens: People would come to me at different times, they would tell them, I mean, I could tell them, okay, no, you’re next on the list or I should have your paycheck next, next week or give them some idea. But the management of the company, they didn’t want me to give out just like, okay, here’s $200 to help you out in the meantime. They didn’t want me to doing that. They want me to, no, give them the full paycheck, don’t be doing that. Well, one of the, one of the employees, I mean, like I said, all the employees came and talked to me to find out, okay, where am I on the list or can I please get my check and which is completely understandable. I understood it’s just, it wasn’t there.
So anyway, one employee, particularly Kevin Cochran, our IT director, he, I don’t know, he was very hostile about the whole thing and I mean at the time, I just thought, okay, yeah, no, I understand why he’s so mad and everything. But he was just, I don’t know, I guess, he was the most aggressively hostile of all the employees. And I remember one day, when he came in, he was talking to me and he was just like, “Jan, I’ve got to have money. I’ve got to have this check. I mean, my family needs food,” and all this stuff. So, this one day I decided, I said, “Okay, Kevin, I’m not really supposed to do this, but I’m going to give you a portion of your check, because I know it’s the weekend. You say your family needs groceries and stuff. And so, I’m going to go ahead and give you a partial payment.” Which I did.
Well, the weird thing is, or I thought it was weird. It’s like, he immediately went and told my supervisor that I did that. Of course, they talked to me and go, “Jan, we’re not doing that.” And I was thinking at the time, it’s like, that’s kind of strange. I thought it was doing him a favor, but was he really just trying to get me in trouble or something.
Thomas Jan: As it would turn out, however, causing problems was far from the limits of what Cora was willing to do in his betrayal of others who worked at the company. Just to provide a bit of context, keep in mind that many of the individuals still working at WinePress at this time considered themselves tightly knit church family, not mere co-workers. And this particular stretch of time was one of the most stressful, painful, and turbulent times of their lives. It would be like being in a foxhole with men you’ve spent years training and fighting with, only to have one abandon his company and start fighting for the adversary. This betrayal only added to the stress of the employees who were working overtime in an attempt to help get authors all of their files, should the seemingly inevitable take place, the end of WinePress publishing.
Cora’s actions didn’t stop at causing trouble for the accounting department. He eventually announced his intention to resign from the company, and as a member of the IT department, he was tasked with passing off instructions for managing the company’s servers, passwords, and data. In meetings with employees trying to take over his responsibilities, he purposely typed out vague and confusing instructions and left condescending remarks insinuating that those taking over his responsibilities were underqualified. Despite a number of time-wasting meetings with Cora, employees from other departments were able to easily take over his duties in addition to their own.
While undertaking these duties and after Cora was no longer with the company, one employee was working to get author’s domain names switched over from being registered to WinePress and changed them to be under the author’s name to ensure they maintained access to their domain in the events WinePress closed its doors. During this process, an employee discovered that Cora had begun the process of stealing these authors’ domains. Seeing that he was a former member of the IT department, he had passwords to all company servers and services which he chose to retain access to upon his exit of the company. He then proceeded to change the domain registration information from WinePress, or the author who owned it, to his own name and an address that would later be discovered to be an alternate business. As it would turn out, this was only the beginning of a larger plan that would unfold in the coming weeks, and this is only the very tip of the iceberg.
Despite the financial difficulty WinePress was undergoing, there yet remained a shred of hope that the company could stay open. This was due in large part to WinePress’ landlord, Mike Reynolds. Beyond just being their landlord, Mike Reynolds also served as the city attorney. In fact, Reynolds was informed of all the events that Jezebel and others had been partaking in, including the theft of an elderly woman’s home and property, and he referred to it as a hate crime. As such, Reynolds’ friendship and relationship with WinePress staff and the church led him to be gracious with the rent for WinePress’ building. When made aware of their financial difficulties, he reassured them that they were welcome to make payments whenever they could, and he would be lenient. Despite this fact, numerous notices to vacate the premises were posted on the front door of the WinePress building, but Reynolds assured WinePress staff just to ignore them.
Jan Owens: He knew we were having troubles financially. He was working with us. He was telling me, look, just pay what you can, and I would take checks down to his office. Usually, every week, I’d take something down there. I’d meet with his assistant who was, we had a really good relationship and stuff like that, and he came to the office periodically, and we would meet with him and, no, no I’m working with you, but we’re still, I don’t know, we’re really kind of getting mixed messages. He says, “He’s working with me.” I take the rent down to his office. His receptionist is very friendly and never says anything’s a problem. She’s like, “Oh, thank you so much for this payment,” and all this stuff.
Well, but then we keep getting these legal notices, so the management is kind of like, okay, which way is this going to go. So, anyway, so one day, Mike Reynolds comes in, this time with his attorney, and he wants to have the keys to the property. I wasn’t there for, I don’t know, all the things that he said, but pretty much he said, that we had to move out, and which was a total shock. I mean, it was a shock to me because it’s just like, I thought we were working things out, but anyway, he said, “Okay, you have to get out.” So, he and his attorney left and said, “Okay, I’m going to be sending the sheriff back.” So, word went around the office, it’s like, “Okay, we have to leave today.”
Upon being removed from the WinePress building, it was time for WinePress to officially unwind its services. As a result, some of the remaining WinePress employees continued working from home in an effort to ensure authors received their files. During this time, however, an individual happened to be driving past the former WinePress parking lot when they noticed something curious. They noticed a vehicle in the parking lot that belonged to a former member of WinePress and Sound Doctrine. This individual was none other than Cora, the aforementioned member of WinePress’s IT department, who had successfully stolen author domain names just prior to WinePress being evicted from their building.
Jan Owens: It began with a former employee of WinePress happened to be driving to the post office and she drove past the WinePress Publishing parking lot and she noticed the van of one of the employees that she knew had quit WinePress in the parking lot. And she thought, well, this is pretty strange. And she verified it was his van, he had a certain dent and she knew him pretty well. And so, she went to a side street to make a make a phone call to the director, one of the WinePress directors, and told her that hit that this car was in the parking lot of WinePress and the car, it belonged to the former IT director of WinePress. And we’re like, “Okay, he doesn’t work for WinePress anymore. Why is he at night parking in the parking lot?”
So, while she’s on the phone, all of a sudden, the car pulls up behind her. And it turns out it was Mike Reynolds. He gets out of a car and comes out of his car and comes in, knocks on her window and he’s like, “May I help you?” And she’s kind of taken back. It’s like, what are you talking about? You’re making a phone call. So, then I don’t know, he starts explaining to her, “Oh, he’s there at WinePress. He had to call the IT director, our former IT director, for some reason.” The whole thing just seemed so, so suspicious. So, anyway, he was very, I don’t know, he was very aggressive about it. Like, is there anything I can do for you. So, she didn’t know what was going on. We didn’t really know what was going on either. Nobody did, it was just the whole thing seemed very, very unusual.
As it would turn out, it was by no accident that Mike Reynolds, Cora, and Jezebel were all in the former WinePress building. Throughout this entire series of events, WinePress employees and Sound Doctrine Church members expected that eventually someone would turn around and stand up to Jezebel’s immoral and illegal behavior. Time and again, however, not only did individuals ignore her deeds, they went out of their way to help her. Up to this point, it was presumed Jezebel’s goal was merely to destroy WinePress Publishing. With the aid of Enumclaw’s city attorney and the others whom she was able to recruit, it would turn out it wasn’t destruction that she was after. It was an outright theft.
Shortly after WinePress staff was evicted from the premises, it took little time for landlord and city attorney Mike Reynolds to find his new tenant. And who was this new and convenient replacement? Why, none other than Jezebel, the former WinePress employee who sabotaged the company leading up to her exit, and used a minor who later levied false allegations that led to the company’s downfall. The fact that Jezebel became the new tenant of the property was far from the worst part of the situation, however. Mike Reynolds knew from the very beginning he was going to remove WinePress from the building. However, by misleading them into thinking he was working with them as notices appeared, he knew at the end of the eviction period he could have the legal authority to kick WinePress staff out and then seize all of their property.
And what did Mike Reynolds choose to do with this property? Perhaps you might imagine he contacted WinePress management and allowed them to retrieve at least the sensitive information. Keep in mind, WinePress’ servers housed an online bookstore and payment processing system, both of which contained sensitive customer information, including payment information. Mike Reynolds took all of this property and handed it over to Jezebel. He did this, not without first opening the company’s QuickBooks file to review the company’s private financial information.
Jan Owens: And oh, he’s talking about Timothy Williams, our executive publisher. And he was like, okay, he talks about Timothy Williams. Timothy Williams was the executive publisher who was the head of the company. He continued to receive his paycheck every month without fail, even to the very close of the business. This was discovered by the landlord when he seized the books after I resigned. So here he’s saying, “Okay, the landlord has the QuickBooks files.” This is how we found out that he had the QuickBooks files. And as I said before, the only way he could have had it is if Kevin gave it to him, accessed it for him. Plus, what’s interesting is that after it shows, okay, because the QuickBooks files were taken off the server at a certain point. Well, Timothy did not get every paycheck that was owed to him.
Unfortunately, no one at the company did get every paycheck that was owed to them. I mean, I’m not happy to say that. I mean, I’m very sad to say that because people worked hard and they suffered financially for it. But the one thing it does show is they did not have the most recent WinePress records because those were only on the laptop. That’s it. I was the only one that could access it.
Seeing as to how Enumclaw’s own city attorney was aiding Jezebel in theft, there was no reason not to throw caution to the wayside and announced to WinePress authors that she had acquired all of their book files. She did this by sending an email to all WinePress authors. Email addresses she received through the help of Cora stealing them.
“For those of you who don’t know me, I co-founded WinePress in 1991. In 1999, I allowed some unscrupulous leadership into the organization, culminating in their takeover in 2010. I want to say I am so sorry that I allowed them in and gave them credibility in Christian publishing. It was completely wrong to do so.”
The brazen and delusional arrogance in this one statement is incredible. Keep in mind, the reality is that the company flourished the less that Jezebel was involved in it. The proof of this was ICRS, the quality of the books, the eBook services, the video services, a popular blog, a cruise, a bi-weekly comic, an expanded building, a printing production storefront, and of course, the massive increase in profitability of the company. None of which Jezebel had any hand in creating. Despite all of this, Jezebel’s claim was that WinePress’s success had nothing to do with all the things I just mentioned, but rather that, “She allowed the new leadership in and gave them credibility in Christian publishing.” No, it wasn’t all the services being created while she was slandering competitors over the phone to prospective authors. It was the blessing of credibility she was gracing upon the poor fools who worked mindlessly for this company she had blessed them with.
Her email went on to say, “After authors contacting me…”
Wait a minute. How did authors know to contact you? Was there some sort of telepathic message that targeted only WinePress authors that contained the name and email address of the exact person who has all of their files and data?
“After authors began contacting me, I began sensing that the Lord wants me available to help those of you who need it. By a total miracle, I now have in my possession all of the author files. This will make it possible for you to take charge of the situation.”
So, it was by a total miracle. It’s the exact same type of miracle that takes place when stacks of cash appear in the black duffel bags of bank robbers. Jezebel, as somebody who has been conning her whole life, knew well that in order to cover up her fraud and theft, using flowery, Christian-y words was the way to do it. After all, in the 80s, people buying trash bags from her thought there is no way she’s telling me this is for charity and then pocketing the cash, right? No one can be that evil. But yes, Jezebel is that evil. The email went on.
“It has all come together amazingly quickly. I have gathered a group of like-minded, committed professionals with strong publishing experience. Today, Monday, January 27th, we are opening Redemption Press. Our aim is to help WinePress authors get back into print and others to get into print in a user-friendly, partnership-based way at the lowest possible cost to the author.”
Technically, the lowest cost possible would be zero, which is what WinePress employees were attempting to do, which was to give authors back their files for free. Like if somebody steals my wallet, the lowest possible cost to me would be for him to give me my wallet back. But I’m just nitpicking.
“If you would like your book project to continue to be available in print and in distribution or want to complete the publishing process you began with WinePress, please respond by clicking here. Go to the WinePress Authors tab and fill out the questionnaire so we know how to help you. We will do everything we can to do so.”
Thomas Jan: And there it is. Now that she has acquired all of their property, it’s time for Jezebel to sell it back to them all under the guise of services. Beyond being highly illegal, Jezebel and Quora’s actions directly endangered hundreds of customers’ data and all the work that they and WinePress staff put into producing their book projects. Now Jezebel was so brazen, knowing that the city attorney and Enumclaw Police Department were on her side, she even posed for multiple photos, one specifically where she was pointing at one of WinePress’ servers. As a result of Jezebel’s actions, numerous former WinePress customers experienced identity theft or other problems with their sensitive data being stolen and mishandled by Jezebel.
Despite the long list of crimes Jezebel committed throughout this process, Mr. Reynolds finalized everything needed for Jezebel to begin her new company. As if the coordination and obvious corruption throughout this situation were not enough, on the Articles of Incorporation for the business, the false accuser’s mother, Delilah, was listed as the registered agent on this freshly established publishing company. This company was under a new name of course; however, it was started with all of the book files dozens of WinePress employees had strived for decades to create in spite of the incompetence and undermining Jezebel had put in their way, work which she was all too happy to take credit for. Dozens of hardworking employees had just lost their jobs as a direct result of Jezebel’s actions and she was awarded all the fruits of their labor free of any charge by Enumclaw City Attorney Mike Reynolds along with the Enumclaw Police Department.
After stealing all of their work, Jezebel celebrated by doing a grand opening complete with a ribbon cutting. This was strikingly similar to the grand opening WinePress and the Salt Shaker had done years previous. But this is very much in character for who Jezebel was and is. She can create nothing new or original and she does not have a single creative bone in her body. Instead, she can only lie, steal, and manipulate until she ends up with a hollow husk of what talented, creative, hardworking individuals had made before her. Nevertheless, Jezebel’s original statement that she found the Christian marketplace to be gullible ended up being even more true than perhaps even she realized.
As such, a number of former WinePress authors did trust Jezebel with their books, allowing her to take their book files and replace the WinePress logo with her new imprint. To this day, there yet remain a number of books sporting the book cover, typesetting, and editing done by the WinePress team sitting on her poorly designed website. Sometime later, a number of industry professionals were asked to do an estimate based upon the number of author files that were stolen, the applicable services done to build their book files, things like book cover design, editing, and typesetting, and the estimated total came out to approximately $3 million in stolen assets.
As WinePress finally came to a close, former employees of the company and members of Sound Doctrine Church had little recourse within the city of Enumclaw. This had to do in large part because reporting a theft to police would have little effect if the person enabling the entire situation was the city’s own prosecutor, and police were fully committed to helping Jezebel get away with as many crimes as she wished. These individuals had just had their livelihood destroyed, church shut down, and positive influence in the community removed, all because the corruption within Enumclaw protected Jezebel and Detective McCall’s hatred against a church that did nothing but try to serve the community of Enumclaw. And with that, the days that followed marked the official end of WinePress publishing. Former employees were now left to find other employment, but far worse had to watch as a con artist successfully stole over a decade of their hard work, creativity, and service, all done in spite of the very person who stole it.
Now up to this point, we’ve covered quite a bit in this series, and I know it may seem unbelievable the sheer number of people that contributed to the demise of the salt shaker, notation printing, and WinePress publishing. We’ve talked about Enumclaw police detective Grant McCall fabricating allegations against the church pastor who also served in WinePress’s management. We’ve covered Jezebel and Cora stealing the company under the protection of the city attorney and the police department, all while dozens or even hundreds of customers or even friends shrugged their shoulders and remained silent. But if you know your Bible, you would know that this is the exact same thing that happened to Christ himself. When he was under trial, his very closest friend remained silent in the face of injustice, and others who had no particular bone to pick in that fight spoke up to yell crucify him, even in spite of being offered Barabbas, a thief, in his place.
In the very same way, Enumclaw’s government and community were all too happy to side with a charity conning swindler over a group of individuals whose only goal had been to live a quiet life and to serve the community in as many capacities as possible.
That being said, for a deeper dive into this and into the full gospel, I highly recommend you check out and listen to the Consider podcast, the very same whole gospel taught and practiced at Sound Doctrine Church. Now, with as outlandish as this story sounds, however, it is not the end. There is yet another chapter that is arguably more absurd, astounding, and corrupt than anything we’ve covered thus far. In the next episode, we’ll cover the trial between King County and Sound Doctrine Church. Thank you so much for joining us in this series, and I will see you in the next episode of Enumclaw.
