Dead Fish
The demand of Jesus to carry a cross, hate one’s life and deny self have been so whitewashed down by the Christian church that the fish symbol is not just meaningless, but blasphemous. From rock musicians to women picking out jewelry, no one is ashamed to wear the symbol of the cross.
Christian book marketers, editors, preachers and Christian claimers have so compromised the fish symbol and the cross that no one, literally no one is embarrassed to wear the cross.
Ashamed? Naw, because the church is like the world.
It was the Roman world that first called disciples “Christian.” Please do not think for a moment this was a complement or an avenue to sell Christian Fish or Crucifixion Cross.
The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

If the Christian Church were wholesale sold out to live the offensive message of the cross, few would put the Christian Fish on their bumper and fewer still would be the sound of jung-jing from crucifixion cross at the check-out stand.

The current “Christian” Fish symbol is dead, flopping dead, dead.
The offense of the cross has been scaled clean off this dead fishy.
The meat has rotted, with all that is left is some fuzzy notions about being a Christian believer.
Jesus did not say, “Go make believers.” Jesus did say, “Go make disciples.”
Now, when you meet someone claiming to be a Christian, ask them to sign discipleship with a cross. If they are unwilling, then they have not even started to follow Jesus. They are not saved and w ill not be saved.
Give these as a gift to your fellow church members and see how they respond to just a touch, a itty-bitty touch of the offense of cross.
For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. (Philippians 3:18)
