Mary Wasn’t So Rosary
Text Mary Wasn’t So Rosary
“The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.”
-Pope Pius IX, Ineffabilis Deus,
1854: DS 2803
Contrary to tradition, Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a sinner, corrupt and worthless, yet saved by God’s mercy. The Lord spiritually wrote on Mary’s heart “all have become worth- less” (Romans 3:12-) long before Paul wrote these words with ink. Mary herself felt her worthlessness and she testified to the truth of her “humble state.” Indeed, she refers to herself not as a saint but as a servant.
And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on, all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me– holy is his name. (Luke 1:46-49)
And when talking about herself, Mary pointed us directly to God, the Mighty One. As a result, she certainly would not want anyone to pray to her, for she felt her need of redemption as any sinner. Certainly, one day, Mary will re- buke all who have elevated her to the level of an intercessor in heaven. This is why Simeon prophesied that the “sword,” that is, the living Word of God, Jesus, would “pierce” her “own soul.” She would feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit that she is a sinner like all of mankind.
To view Mary in any other light than an equal sinner in need of mercy and grace elevates her to the level of idolatry which the Bible commands us to flee from (1 Corinthians 10:14).
Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.” (Luke 2:34-35)
Yes, we can call Mary blessed, for through her, God’s mercy and grace fulfilled His powerful purpose. Blessed indeed is Mary, but to pray to her for help, or to repeat repetitive prayers using her name, is to sin before God. Not only a sin but a waste of time that makes no one holy and spiritually weakens the church. Such prayers open the door to demonic counterfeits because no one is made holy, nor are prayers answered simply because they are directed to Mary. Therefore, the next time you go into the confessional booth, be sure and confess the sin of saying the Rosary.
The sword
Mary didn’t understand Jesus’ message and purpose because her heart remained too hard (Mark 8:17), and therefore, Jesus renounced her. Mary, in her darkened sin-stained state, caused Jesus to rebuke her in no uncertain terms. Her son pierced her soul when she came to take charge of Him and He denied her as His mother. Think of the humiliation Jesus put Mary through because of her sin. Her own son quickly and immediately put her in her place.
When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind” (Mark 3:21)
Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.” “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked. Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother” (Mark 3:31-35)
In front of a whole crowd of individuals, Jesus declared that Mary was not His mother, but only those who actually do the will of God. Jesus didn’t comfort her later, and not until His crucifixion do we read Jesus speaking to her kindly. Mary thought Jesus was out of his mind, an insane man who needed to be put in a mental institution. Only darkened, sinful minds come to wrong conclusions about Jesus and it isn’t until we also behold a crucified Jesus that we too will understand what He is really about. Clearly Mary is not a reservoir of grace, but a servant through which God might work His grace. Discover the true offensive message of the cross and you too will see the truths Mary saw. You will discover to your utter amazement a Christianity far more powerful, loving, and holy than one that promotes the Rosary.
So why pray?
Since Mary has no more need for mercy than the rest of us, why pray to her? Even Jesus told us that we must not ask Him to request anything of the Father, rather pray in His name directly to God. In other words, by the name of Jesus, we bypass all saints and talk directly to the Father. If Jesus declared that He will “not” ask the Father on our behalf, then why in the world would we think asking Mary to intercede with the Father would carry more weight?
In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. (John 16:26-27)
Many say that they ask Mary to pray just as they would any living Christian on earth since she is alive in heaven. Can this be true? No, simply because Mary is dead physically and unable to bind or loosen anything on earth. After all, one must be on earth to bind something on earth, for from earth things are bound and loosed in heaven. Jesus did not say that whoever binds in heaven will bind on earth, but that two or more have to agree on earth to effect changes in heaven.
I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. (Matthew 18:18-19)
Since Mary’s body is dead on earth, you cannot agree with her on anything—her body has not been resurrected. Unlike Jesus, whose body has resurrected and can intercede for us, Mary remains incomplete and unable to fulfill this purpose in heaven. Jesus is the only one complete at this point and given a “permanent priesthood” that “always lives to intercede” for us.
Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him because he always lives to intercede for them. (Hebrews 7:23-25)
The rosary
One of the main themes of the Rosary is quoted below.
HAIL, HOLY QUEEN, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope!
Mary is not our hope. Jesus Christ is the only hope for all sinners, including Mary. Jesus died and paid the price of her sins as much as anyone else’s. To say or imply otherwise is blasphemy. Read carefully and understand Mary cannot save us. She is in no way our hope. Our only hope lies in Christ Jesus.
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope (1 Timothy 1:1)
Now we come to the matter of repetition. To repeat the Rosary over and over disobeys Jesus. He clearly stated that when we pray, we must not multiply our words. When we do things, like saying the Rosary over and over, using many words, thinking we will be heard because we say it repeatedly, we become ignorant pagans before God.
And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. (Matthew 6:7)
God does not listen to the many words of those who repeat the canned phrases of the Rosary. In fact, He rejects such petitions and prayers because they do not flow from a surrendered heart to the will of God, but seek to use someone else’s, namely Mary’s, righteousness to persuade God to do something. The Lord answers only those who come directly to Him, by way of Jesus, through a crucified life. In short, God only gives the Holy Spirit to those who have picked up the cross willingly and obey Him moment by moment.
We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.” (Acts 5:32)
If God had wanted us to say the Rosary in honor of Mary, He would have had Paul write the phrases in the New Testament. Indeed, John, whom Jesus made Mary his mother at the cross, certainly would have written something to us about this in his letters. In short, let us see how Jesus rebuked the first person who ever said the Rosary.
As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it” (Luke 11:27-28)
Blessed are those who obey God by never saying the Rosary again but have true faith in Jesus by obeying the following command.
Command
All of this is not a matter of opinion, for in preaching the gospel of Jesus, we must command individuals to put their hope in Jesus, not Mary or anyone else. Therefore, we command you in the name of Jesus not to say the Rosary or pray to Mary but to put your hope in Jesus Christ.
(and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe. Command and teach these things. (1 Timothy 4:10-11)

Former Salt Shaker Bookstore
The Salt Shaker Christian bookstore, because of persecution by Washington State Authorities, was destroyed and ran out of the town of Enumclaw. Just part of the proof that Sound Doctrine Church was walking the narrow road with Jesus.
For you, brothers became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus: You suffered from your own countrymen the same things those churches suffered from the Jews, who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to all men. 1 Thessalonians 2:14-15
It was a beautiful store. A result of the hard work of Sound Doctrine Church. In the store was a free rack because, as Jesus said, "Freely you received, freely give." The following track is a small reproduction of the love that burned in our hearts to give freely.
