Poor Boxes & The Crucified Life

Decades Tradition of Love
Before Sound Doctrine Church was destroyed by persecution from the ungodly, ((www.enumclaw.com)) one of the greatest joys all experienced was the “Poor Box”. It was a high point all year long and a great way to end the year. All were taught, all strove to live, or left, Acts 20:35 “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’   The love of Jesus manifested, through a disciple carrying his cross, involves “hard work” and rejoicing in the fact “it is more blessed to give than receive.”

Caution
It is exactly this kind of love for Jesus that drives Judas, and his evil offspring, foaming mad unto betrayal. See: Mark 14:10 There are plenty of charities and church giveaways – but few workers of Jesus blessed with a Holy Spirit – that activate Judas to betray. Such purity in the “Christian” church is seldom seen. After all, like Judas, most who attend church are impure – helping themselves to the goodies in Jesus. ((John 12:6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.))

Poor Box
Leviticus 23:22
” ‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the Lord your God.’ ”
