Rejected! Bible Cover by Christians

Many decades ago Sound Doctrine Church attempted to have a custom Bible cover printed, but it was rejected. The service that printed the custom Bible covers refused to produce the product. This is that cover.

Washington State Prosecutors seizing and building upon the hostility towards the message of the cross by the Christian Church at large used, without question, the lies and slander that accompanies such religious intolerance. You know the aged old no religious authorities accept the message opposition: Has any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? John 7:48

Text The Sit Down Holy Bible

The sit down Holy Bible

"Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand?" —Luke 14:31

Sit down

“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying, ‘This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.’” (Luke 14:28-30)

Before beginning any project, a smart person considers the cost. If a man plans to buy a house, or as Jesus said, build a tower, will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he can build it? But you might ask, what cost should we count in order to be saved? The quick salvation messages often preached today are not found in this book, the Holy Bible. Jesus warned that many people enter through a wide gate to their spiritual destruction. So the solution is found in listening afresh to what Jesus taught. He told us what it really means to be saved by Him. Blessed are those who learn to shut up and listen to God (Luke 8:18).

Two pages cannot possibly communicate what the whole Bible preaches. With that limitation in mind, here are a few things to contemplate as you start a lifetime of sitting down before the Living God. Let God make these real to you, for to all who seek Him, the door will be opened (Luke 11:10).

  1. Begin with obtaining true faith in Jesus and the full message of salvation.

Proverbs 1:22; 9:6; John 3:16-18; Acts 5:20; 16:30-31; Romans 1:17; Ephesians 4:5; James 2:24

  1. Realize that God regrets making you; you are worthless and bound for hell.

Genesis 6:6; 8:21; Psalm 22:6; 51:5; Romans 3:10-18; 3:23; Mark 10:18; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 2:3; 5:5-6; Revelation 21:8

  1. Sit down, count the cost of salvation, and give up everything to pay the price. Learn to despise money, reject the world, and to become an alien.

Matthew 8:19-23; 13:44; Mark 10:43-45; Luke 14:26-33; 16:13; 17:31-33; Acts 4:32; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 6:17; Philippians 2:5-8; 2:15; 2 Timothy 3:12; 1 Peter 2:11; Hebrews 11:36-38; 1 John 2:15-16; 3:16

  1. Repent, hate your own life, become a loser, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in every aspect of your life.

Mark 1:15, 8:34-35; Luke 14:25-26; John 3:20-21; 8:28-29; 12:25; Romans 8:13-14; Galatians 5:17; 6:8

  1. Prepare to suffer against the sins in your life and be crucified to self.

Luke 14:27; Galatians 2:20; Philippians 1:29; Colossians 3:5; Hebrews 5:7-8; 11:25; 12:4-6; 1 Peter 4:1-2; 1 John 1:7; 2:6

  1. Wash away your sins through baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and you will receive the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19-20; John 3:3-5; Acts 2:37-38; 8:36-39; 10:48; 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21; 1 John 5:7-8; Titus 3:4-6

  1. By faith, deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow Jesus. Then confess with your mouth and believe in your heart every day that Jesus is Lord, and you will be saved.

Luke 9:23; Romans 1:5; 10:9-10; 2 Timothy 2:19; 2:22; Hebrews 13:15-16; James 1:2

Jesus warned against the worrying, wasting time, and worldly pleasures that weigh us down (Luke 21:24). Failure to sit down with God is to fall into a trap. The Bible tells us it is difficult to be saved (1 Peter 4:18). Therefore, we should ensure that our salvation, through Jesus, is lasting and genuine. Now, today, this moment, is the time to go into a room, shut the door to the world, and sit down with God.

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling . . . (Philippians 2:12)

She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. (Luke 10:39- 40a)

In our fast-moving world, sitting down with Jesus seldom occurs. However, it is required if we want to hear what God declares. With so many tempting ways to entertain ourselves and waste time just being busy, few people are forceful enough about denying themselves to reach Jesus (Matthew 11:12).

Crowds of individuals think about Jesus throughout their busy day, but that is not the same as knowing Jesus. Millions more pray in the name of Jesus without realizing they are not in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). Even among unbelievers, thoughts of God flash in their minds, but out of this massive crowd, few respond completely and fully.

Only those few individuals who find themselves moving toward Jesus will He invite to sit down on solid ground. For example, only after He took the crowd away from the normal demands and pleasures of life did Jesus have them sit down on green grass in groups of hundreds and fifties (Mark 6:39).

Following Jesus requires many silent contemplating moments and days— days of thinking hard about sin and obedience through God’s mercy.

Jesus demands that everyone who looks to Him for salvation stop their activities, listen to Him, and count the cost of what it means to wear the mark of a Christian. Even the thief on the cross next to Jesus had to be nailed down and forced to look at Salvation before he was ready to accept God’s mercy. Unfortunately, many refuse to sit down with Jesus until God places them in painful positions. And even then, most refuse to sit down with the true Gospel in order to be saved from hell.

Men enjoy sitting down with individuals whom they call friends. Many others dream of sitting down with that special person they idolize. Yet few, even among Christians, actually spend time alone with God. Blessed are those who have learned to sit down with Jesus. They, like David in the Old Testament, will find it a joyful matter to sit down with the God that can save them from the fires of hell.

Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: “Who am I, O Sovereign LORD . . . ?”
(2 Samuel 7:18a)

Former Salt Shaker Bookstore

The Salt Shaker Christian bookstore, because of persecution by Washington State Authorities, was destroyed and ran out of the town of Enumclaw. Just part of the proof that Sound Doctrine Church was walking the narrow road with Jesus.

For you, brothers became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus: You suffered from your own countrymen the same things those churches suffered from the Jews, who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to all men. 1 Thessalonians 2:14-15

It was a beautiful store. A result of the hard work of Sound Doctrine Church. In the store was a free rack because, as Jesus said, "Freely you received, freely give." The following track is a small reproduction of the love that burned in our hearts to give freely.

Articulated Perspectives

The opinions shared are those of the speakers, Timothy and Jacob, stemming from a self-critical stance. They reject sin to allow the righteous truths of God to be conveyed through His Spirit of Truth.

We sincerely regret any errors, misunderstandings, or lapses in knowledge. As stated in Proverbs 18:15: "The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out."

No, Sound Doctrine Church was not a cult; in fact, it was the very antithesis of one. The church bore the fruit of holiness and faith, demonstrated through the love of Jesus, until it was undermined by corrupt authorities.

The opposition, persecution, and prosecution by anti-Christian prosecutors in Washington State serve as clear evidence of the positive impact of Jesus that was present in Sound Doctrine Church.
