The "Whole" Gospel
"Go, stand in the temple courts," he said, "and tell the people the whole message of this new life." (Acts 5:20)
To Obey Everything
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20)
Cultural Christianity
Cultural Christianity refers to a belief in Jesus that stems from engaging with the Bible, listening to sermons, reading commentaries, and being influenced by a religious upbringing. It is faith in Jesus coming from this world and allows the individual to keep their life while falsely claming that Jesus is Lord of their life. Such faith cannot save an individual. Its concept contrasts sharply with the complete gospel message, which demands total surrender, the willingness to take up one’s cross, and a commitment to follow the Holy Spirit, even in directions that may be uncomfortable or lead to beliefs that challenge personal preferences. In essence, individuals who adhere to cultural Christianity lack an awareness of the true challenge presented by the cross.
