The Call

Everything on The Consider Podcast and website has to do with the call for all men and women to repent. Such is an offer of mercy for those willing to follow Jesus by hating their life and picking up their cross. After all, even the demons believe in God, but they are terrified. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that–and shudder. James 2:19

Text Working Mothers The Flute

There are two versions of this publication. One version is the flute and the other is a dirge. In Matthew 11:17, Jesus discusses the spiritual point of a flute and a dirge. For more on this, you can obtain a free copy of the publication entitled The Tone. Each publication uses the same scriptures but the delivery is different. The Holy Spirit is in both, but like the rainbow, the colors are different. In the same way, the colors may be varied, but it is all Light that a woman should be busy at home.

A precious gift

God has entrusted the church with something precious: the gospel truth or sound doctrine. God’s Word always brings joy. The high role of women as mothers is one example of loving the wisdom God has given to the church. The command by God for women to be “busy at home” is a grand one to obey and defend. For, as the world perishes in its selfishness, mothers abandon their children for the goals of this world.

Like Jesus, the mothers in the church must sacrifice their own glories and, in selfless love, lay down their lives for the benefit of their children. It is this type of love that the Word of God instructs women to train younger mothers in. This teaching about the role of women is “in accord with sound doctrine,” and God has entrusted the saints to defend, uphold, and cherish it.

You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. (Titus 2:1-5)

Think of this humble calling. As Christian women reject the call of Satan to fulfill themselves, they can allow the cross to crucify selfish ambition in order to raise their children in the Lord. A mother who devotes all of her time to raising children to follow the Holy Spirit prevents the maligning of the word of God. God in love has entrusted mothers with the foundational truths of the church. For when these children grow up, they will be equipped to lead and keep the church of Jesus Christ strong, healthy, and a blessing to the world. What a reward these women will have when they see the smile on God’s face for their labor of love in raising children for Jesus, His beloved Son.

Babbling extremes

The liberal church, loaded down with unsound doctrine and selfishness, only follows Jesus to receive peace and joy. Such people babble like fools, looking for any extreme excuses to disobey the commands they do not like. They often whine, “So, you are saying a wife can never leave the house, go on a trip, or teach a Bible class?” Or, “What about the poor? Must they stay home and starve?” And, “What about the single women? Should they just sit at home until they get married?” God’s people know better than to strain out a gnat and swallow a camel.

You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel. (Matthew 23:24)

When God created woman, He did so in the utmost of wisdom by entrusting her with a womb. This gift from God gives her the capability to give birth to godly children that grow to become sons and daughters of God. All godly women down through history have treasured their special design and duty for they realize, by faith, they give birth to worshippers of God. In the greatest of love, godly mothers give birth and raise their children in the hope that they will become shining stars for Christ.

Paul writes that this labor of love is part of God’s process of salvation for women. He stated that women who are holy, full of faith, love, and propriety, will be saved “through childbearing.” For the heart of God, through the Holy Spirit, fills these mothers, making and teaching them to be holy. While it is no guarantee that the children will grow up believers, God promises that such mothers will be made righteous in Jesus Christ.

But women will be saved through childbearing–if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety. (1 Timothy 2:15)

Godly women

The worldly, when they do not want their children, find someone to kill the child. The godly woman would no more drop off her child to a babysitter or day care than she would obtain an abortion. While many denominations and churches open day care centers, or “Spiritual Abortion Clinics,” the godly mothers in our generation not only stay at home and raise godly children but are missionaries to the worldly working mothers around them. These quiet, godly women in the community lay down their lives not only for their husbands and children but are filled with the spirit of prayer for those around them. Prayer for the lost who think they can have the ways of the world and attend church on Sunday, lifting up hands to God in worship.

On the very day they sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary and desecrated it. That is what they did in my house. (Ezekiel 23:39)

We can easily see the bad fruit of this selfishness in women who work outside the home. Generation after generation becomes worse in its sinfulness and the selfish children from generations past now raise children even more selfish. This is why Jesus prophesied that in the last days, children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. These wounded, abandoned children feel empty spiritually and will betray their parents because their relationship means nothing to them. The children rebel because selfish parents do not know how to raise disciplined children who understand the joy of self-sacrifice and selfless love. These children have seen the hypocrisy of selfish love in the name of Jesus and, therefore, rebel against God, wanting nothing to do with Him.

Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. (Mark 13:12)

This love in the Lord that godly women show to their children by staying home and hugging them daily clears the way for God to come to them with His salvation. Such women deserve the thanks of the church for they have ensured that nothing stands in the way of these “little ones” of God or keeps them from the open gates of heaven.

And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck. (Mark 9:42)

These missionary moms, who in their own backyards win their children to the Lord, have far more impact for God than large ministries. As a pastor, I know nothing can replace the hours of care, concern, and attention of a godly mother. While a sermon may move the heart to respond to the salvation call of God, these mothers laid the foundation for such an easy response. Many children will gladly tell you the foundation their mother laid made it easy and smooth for God to reach them. Many a worldly child will sadly share with others that their mothers stood in the way and it took them extra years to come to Jesus. The wounding they had received from cold and worldly mothers who worked outside the home kept them from the Lord.

Scripture declares that the first church had all things in common, shared everything they had, and carried the burdens of one another and so fulfilled the law of Christ. When a church understands that mothers should remain busy at home and has older women still busy at home training the younger women, then the resources of the church help ensure that no woman must work outside the home. God pours out love into that kind of church. A love that knows what to do in each situation with each person so that together as one family, each mother can fully love her children by being busy at home.

Proverbs 31

Often, women attempt to use the “noble wife” of Proverbs 31 to justify working outside the home. When we view Proverbs through the love of Christ, we can clearly see that it speaks of a wife, not a single woman, and this woman is definitely busy at home. In fact, she is very busy and productive at home. As Proverbs 31:24 reveals, “She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.” In other words, if we read Proverbs 31 for exactly what it declares, we see a wife who does the womanly thing of sewing and making clothes. She doesn’t work at the local department store selling someone else’s products; she is not a fashion designer; she doesn’t work at a clothing factory, but makes garments in her home that she sells to the “merchants.” This woman does not work in the business world but sells to those who do. She is a mother and wife who lays down her life as Jesus did, which gives us a shining example of the love of God (John 15:13). Those who do not place taking care of their husband and children as the foremost will of God are hypocrites in the name of Jesus. Yet, how many, even in the name of the Lord, justify working out of the home? “All for a good cause,” they will declare, but to obey is better than sacrifice. For when it comes to sound doctrine, the only thing that counts is expressing God’s love.

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. (Galatians 5:6b)

Former Salt Shaker Bookstore

The Salt Shaker Christian bookstore, because of persecution by Washington State Authorities, was destroyed and ran out of the town of Enumclaw. Just part of the proof that Sound Doctrine Church was walking the narrow road with Jesus.

For you, brothers became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus: You suffered from your own countrymen the same things those churches suffered from the Jews, who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to all men. 1 Thessalonians 2:14-15

It was a beautiful store. A result of the hard work of Sound Doctrine Church. In the store was a free rack because, as Jesus said, "Freely you received, freely give." The following track is a small reproduction of the love that burned in our hearts to give freely.
