Peter The Preacher

Years of following Jesus resulted in what kind of preaching at the first sermon after Jesus was raised from the dead?

  • "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off–for all whom the Lord our God will call." With many other words, he warned them, and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. (Acts 2:36-41)

Peter’s preaching inspired by a Holy God was more than just "ask Jesus into your heart" or, "Give Jesus your life." It was far more ranging than that. Peter proclaims that disciples of Jesus will save themselves from a whole generation that is corrupt.

This provides a fresh perspective for those with soft hearts to understand the concepts of "coming out" and "being separate."

A disciple of Jesus who is honestly hating their own life will be taught by the Holy Spirit to escape …

…religious corruption
…doctrinal corruption
…legal corruption
…elegance corruption
…church corruption
…sexual immorality, corruption
…feasting corruption
…fun corruption
…money corruption
…thought corruption
…lifestyle corruption
…government corruption
…police corruption
…criminal corruption
…holiday corruption
…Christianity corruption

And so on.

This is why Peter used "many other words" to warn and plead to escape the corruption.

  • "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." (2 Corinthians 6:17-18)
